It's doubtless been discussed before, in which case I apologise, but is the same space used for both in-vision and out-of-vision continuity? What I'm asking is: is the only difference between the two the fact that a camera is put to air?

I would have thought so -- there's no particular reason to have separate studios and most ITV companies had one or the other rather than both down the years.

One advantage of OOV is that it's easier to achieve good audio quality without background noise in a booth (or at least it used to be in the past -- one feature of IVC tended to be a slightly buzzy/hissy sound quality and noticable clunks when mikes were brought up/down etc).

I've heard on the grapevine there's a new announcer who did their first shift in Studio 3 at UTV today!

Anyone got any word on the enigmatic person?

The first two Udents aired this evening, quite nice actually. The clips are actually placed within a template, obviously to try and disguise the bad quality of some of the clips that they'll be receiving! Here's one of them which was uploaded to the UTV Facebook page earlier today:

I like the template on that; I'm pleased it matches the rest of UTV's presentation package.

I see you've submitted footage for a U-dent then, Stevie! Would you care to share the details with us now or wait until you find out if it's used on screen?

Well it's nothing overly exciting really! We filmed some footage of our Silver Duke of Ed students when they were away in the Mournes last week and sent it in. Thought it would be nice free publicity for the school!

Who's the new announcer - she just linked Popstar to Operastar - has she been in vision yet ? Maybe the one mentioned above...

She's been in-vision twice, one link last night and one tonight. I have them recorded, I'll hopefully get them up on YouTube tomorrow.

Here's three in-vision links from the new nameless announcer! She's one each night on the 10th, 11th and 12th July. I wonder is she permanent or just doing holiday cover this week?

And here are the 8 current Udents which are running at the minute:

I'm surprised they don't flash a super up with her name on, or allow her to introduce herself.
