That Santa Flash was very depressing - more or less stating that Santa had missed the estimated flight departure time of 6.00pm and that Rudolph had gone missing.
My mother thought it was a bit cruel and said that there'd probably be plenty of kids upset.

I notice that there's a "PowerPoint" advert on UTV for a sale at a jewellers in Lisburn running at the moment with the voice of Audra Thomas - is this advert new, or did it run last year or a few years ago? Hence, could this mean Audra hasn't actually left UTV and is due to make a comeback?
Also noticed a funny cock-up earlier - it seemed that transmission control got their junction timings a bit mixed up: the junction into Emmerdale featured an ident which played to the end, froze for around 10 seconds and seemed to start playing over again before crashing into Emmerdale; while the break in the middle of Emmerdale crashed back into the network during the start of a trail for Gerry Kelly's New Year's Eve Party [lets off party popper in anticipation] - methinks this trail should have gone before Emmerdale.

Yes I noticed this too. I think it is probably just being reused from last year. There was another one not so long ago for The Spinning Wheel which was voiced over by Audra but this has since been updated with the voice of Sarah Dobson. They probably just haven't bothered re-recording that one!
I've only seen a few bulletins they have presented in my time back home, but I've come to the conclusion that newsreaders/announcers Sarah Dobson ("But now we cross to London to join our colleagues for the latest national and international news" seems to be her favourite stock phrase) and Lynda Wilson are pre-programmed automatons.
And we've just had a warning that the Corrie omnibus contains scenes of violence - why do UTV always have to treat their viewers with kid gloves when it comes to Coronation Street (cf. Julian's Daily Mail style scaremongering over Todd and wooden Nicky's lips touching)? This is the same country where I'm sure most people are desensitised to the concept of acts of violence.
