Oh well, as long as I'm a bloke I'll never get a job there anyway, so here goes...

The UTV presentation department have just confirmed the next stage of their promotion of the upcoming showing of all six stories in the Star Wars saga. They have confirmed they intend to use a dead ringer for Jar Jar Binks as the star of the next on-screen campaign.

Aidan Browne is on continuity duty for the first time in ages tonight although it would seem he has decided not to follow in the footsteps of his colleagues and has been announcing out of vision all night.

I think I may know why he might be on tonight! Laughing

They didn't let him read the news on UTV Live Tonight though.

In other news... the UTV DOG seems to have been cranked up to make it more noticeable... and seems to disappear during junctions, only to reappear on programmes.

Perhaps because each in-vision link usually lasts around 15 seconds, which is a lot longer than the time it takes "X is on your screens in half an hour, that's coming up after Y" Wink

Shame it wasn't Robin Taylor, he'd have done IVC without any hesitation.

How grimly predictable: sneak it in quietly then gradually lower the transparency. Given current trends it'll be full colour before long!

As you probably already know Aidan is a lecturer at Belfast Met, I've just finished an HND Media course there and tonight was part of the team that produced Opera on the Edge. He helped us a lot over the last few months and certainly gave his fair share of plugs for the programme this evening!

Watched "Opera on the Edge" back on UPlayer, well put-together, a good standard of filming and editing, a nice narrative flow. Not sure if it looked better on TV, but the bottom line of the Astons was a bit tricky to read watching back in the comparatively small sized screen. Well done Neil and everyone else involved, shame you couldn't get a proper credit at the end for your work.

Yea I know about the astons, was bugging me throughout wish I had made them bigger now! Thanks for the good comments though, we've all certainly learnt a lot from this project, but it was fun to make. Onwards and upwards! Very Happy

The UTV DOG has always only been on during programmes - it's switched out of the station path during comm breaks

Oddly there's no sign of any Christmas presentation on UTV yet. The trend the last few years had been to start the Christmas pres on the Saturday of the X Factor final but yesterday there was nothing and tonight still nothing. Usually they're very quick off the mark with their Christmas pres.
