It is indeed animated, here's a video clip of one of Gillian's links from Monday night:

Like that IVC backdrop, reminds me a bit of the short-lived one used in 2000 before the logo change (will try to dig out a screencap of it from my archives and post tomorrow) and the "Hall of Mirrors". Is it animated?
And doesn't Gilly look fab?

From The Belfast Telegraph:
UTV hit by suspected outbreak of swine flu virus
UTV has been hit by two suspected cases of swine flu, it emerged last night. Staff arriving at Havelock House in Belfast yesterday received a memo saying two employees had symptoms and advising them to follow NHS guidelines to stop the spread of the illness. As well as urging staff to maintaIn good basic hygiene and to cover noses and mouths when coughing or sneezing, the memo said a hand sanitising dispenser would be installed inside the front door.
A UTV spokeswoman confirmed there were two suspected cases of swine flu but refused to comment further. It is understood the employees work in the picture library and sales office and that no presenters have been affected. Popular presenter Pamela Ballentine was reportedly unwell on Thursday, but was back at work yesterday, saying she felt fine except for a slight cold.

Wow, and this is news because ????
My work place of several hundred has had a handful of suspected Swine Flu outbreaks, as have many establishments of that size. Are TV employees supposed to have some sort of magic immunity ?

Police in Belfast have appealed for the public's assistance in recovering a suspected lost gas canister.
A spokesperson for the PSNI says the canister, thought to be similar to one used to power a set of hair straighteners, was taken from the Ormeau Road area of the city between Wednesday 16th September and Monday 21st September.
The spokesperson added if any member of the public has any information on the whereabouts of the missing canister to contact Gillian Porter at UTV.

No, no, no. I'll even buy a set of replacement hair straighteners for her.
However, if nothing else, it shows how little Gillian has aged. That's the hairdo she was sporting in the mid-90s. If it wasn't for the background set, I would've said this picture was c. 1994.

Is CityBeat the new place for once-slightly-famous NI broadcasters? Mind you, that's where a certain person with a surname that's the same as a tool came from...

Yes indeed - Marc worked at Citybeat for many years - as far back as its BCR days in fact.
