And so, now that most of NI has gone back to work today, it's back to no live continuity during the day on UTV. Even though Robin Taylor is at Havoc House doing in-vision weather today with no evident reason why he can't double-up as a duty announcer, there's nothing but what appear to be pre-recorded ECPs with the voice of Gillian Porter to guide viewers through the afternoon.
Defies logic, really, but that's UTV for you.

More logic defiance on UTV tonight.
Julian Simmons did IVC into Emmerdale earlier, and it looks like it was done live, and without plugging the Watch 2 Win question, while Gillian Porter is doing ECPs, which may or may not be live, and no doubt will be reading the late news.
Is there an actual point to having Julian around tonight if Gillian is also there and doing the same shift? Why let one announcer do the programme intro while another does the outro?
Never mind the fact another CA was in earlier to do only the weather forecasts - and made a funny comment on Scotsmen going out in kilts tomorrow night.

Some of them I dunno if Yorkshire still do it now but a while back during calendar or the weather they would have a promo for an regional programme with one of the Calendar News presenters doing the voice over.

I can't believe UTV have still got people doubling up as announcers one minute, newsreaders the next and weather presenters the next, most other ITV regions stopped that sort of multi tasking 15 years ago.
