How have they dealt with the two idents filmed in that city in the North West?
Not sure, I haven't seen it yet! But it also appers they've added some new idents to the set, noticed one of Silent Valley last night and a few others I haven't managed to capture yet. Looks like the hideous yellow template is here to stay for another while then! Wonder if they've withdrawn any?
EDIT: Just seen it, it says "The Foyle"

UTV being consistent as ever, no capitals in this ident, the yellow bar on the right hand side doesn't line up with the UTV logo anymore and the top of the U is chopped off at the bottom!

Some more news on the UTV cutbacks:
I'm quite surprised that they're axing UTV Life considering it's played such a big part in the UTV schedules over the years. If they do axe it and decide to keep Frank and Pamela on, what will they do with them?? And if they do get rid, who will do the weather? The newsreader just?

UTV stars fear for jobs as bosses swing axe
Some of Northern Ireland’s best known presenters are facing the chop as part of a massive cost-cutting cull at UTV in Belfast.
Three flagship shows — Insight, UTV Life and Late and Live — are being axed leaving the presenters |unsure about their futures, while the station’s top team of news journalists, features and sports reporters will also be “significantly |reduced”.
Among the names affected by the drastic job-cutting |exercise are Tina Campbell, Frank Mitchell and Pamela Ballantine.
It is understood features editor Jeannie Johnston and sports editor Adrian Logan are also in the firing line.
At editor level, staff were told they would have to lose two out of five positions — editor of news gathering, |executive producer of news output, features editor, sports editor and executive producer of current affairs.
The sports department was also informed that it is to be reduced by one.
Two out of the four main presenters’ jobs will also go, leaving Frank Mitchell, Paul Clarke, Tina Campbell and Pamela Ballantine on |tenterhooks. And in news and current affairs, up to eight jobs are set to go.
It is understood the only safe positions within news and current affairs are Ken Reid’s political correspondent’s post and Jamie |Delargy’s business title.
But the station also |announced plans to hire three new cross-platform journalists a part of the shake-up.
In a further memo issued yesterday, staff were told the deadline for Voluntary Severence had been extended to November 14.
One UTV insider described the mood within the company as “desperate” and said everyone was “frightened and concerned about the future”.
“It’s terrible, nobody feels safe at the moment,” said the source. Everyone is |concerned about what this means for their futures and for their families.”
“These people facing the chop have given their lives to UTV and then this is the way they are treated.”
Another UTV insider said the cull was aimed at high earning people who had given long years of service to the station.
“They can get rid of so many loyal employees, people who have sweated blood and tears for UTV, then go and take on these cross-platform journalists for a lot less pay,” they said.
“Yet these journalists and presenters who could be losing their jobs are experienced, talented people, known and loved by UTV viewers across Northern Ireland.
“Then, as if they weren’t pointing the gun at their heads enough, management say that the new deadline is November 14.
“But that if they don’t get the numbers they want, they’ll just tap people on the shoulders and give them a reduced severance package.
“What’s happening is a disgrace. Everyone’s very upset. There were a lot of tears yesterday. These are very frightening times at UTV.”
Employment Minister Sir Reg Empey expressed concern at the news of the job losses at UTV and said he would be raising the matter with his party’s representatives within the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure.
“This is in stark contrast to the decision by the BBC to invest in some additional programming in Northern Ireland,” he said.
“The success of UTV has been its ability to reflect local opinion and local stories and give people here a sense of belonging.
“Therefore, not only is the loss of jobs regrettable but it is inevitable that there will be loss of local content.”
Michael Wilson, managing director of UTV Television, said: “As part of our ongoing review of UTV programming following Ofcom’s announcement, we wrote to all UTV Television staff offering them a voluntary severance programme and have met with the team to outline our proposed plans.
“This is aimed at taking into account UTV’s anticipated staffing as we restructure our business and programme requirements for 2009.
“In recent months all major broadcasters have announced job losses. UTV has been successful in outperforming the market in terms of both advertising and audience. However we now must make difficult decisions to ensure we remain able to deliver quality public service programming in a challenging economic environment.
“We are very proud of our local programming and our commitment to a sustainable level of high quality production for Northern Ireland remains as strong as ever.”

Nice would be great if STV took a page out of UTV's idents. Nice Scenery up here too

Yes I agree. STV's package looks tired and dated already. There is nothing bright and inspiring about it at all.

On the contrary, I think STV's are the best of the three (STV, ITV1 UTV)
UTV's are simply dull overhead shots with the old ITV1 package used as a frame - theres absolutely no thought put into that!
And ITV1's... what do they mean?
STV's have a clear identity and ties in nicely with the logo - also, they are well produced and look specially filmed (unlike UTV's which basically look like they've slapped a UTV logo over stock tourism footage of NI)

Exactly. STV have the best channel identity - far better than ITV or UTV.

I think Pamela's time at UTV is now coming to an end, sadly - given that both UTV Life and RPM are being axed, there's little left for her to do - what a 50th birthday present for tomorrow for her. Alison Fleming will probably stay, Tina Campbell will as well (as both are mothers of young children, a jobshare is feasible), not sure about Siobhan McGarry's future though.
Ironically, the one UTV Life presenter who I really wish would go is the one who will end up being spared - Frank Mitchell. He will still be the main weather presenter - I doubt Robin Taylor will swap the physics department at Campbell College to take up a full-time presenting role, and no one else at Havoc House is capable enough (or willing enough, more like) to step into Frankie's shoes.
Despite being an awfully wooden presenter, I think Paul Clark's job should be safe - I don't think there's an adequate male presenter ready to take over as lead male anchor just yet; Fearghal is much better suited as a reporter, and while Marc Mallett is still one for the future, I don't think he's been at UTV for long enough to assume the role.
Another possible loss I think could be Lynda Bryans - she has given up her U105 show, and I wouldn't be surprised if she gives up the TV presenting - I am surprised she has stayed on-screen as long as she has without Mike at her side. If Lynda B went, it would also pave the way for Alison and Tina to become the alternate lead female presenter on UTV Live and make their jobs more safe.
In terms of sport, I'm not sure who would replace Logie as Sports Editor and lead sports presenter if he were to go - but again, no real loss. I'd say Claire McCollum will assume lead sports anchor duties, and I also suspect Gary Gillespie may be shown the door. Mind you, with UTV having little sport to cover, I'm surprised the sports team are not being wound down further than just losing one member of staff.
Reporters I'd like to see keep their jobs are Big Ivan, Susie Millar (the most underrated and undervalued UTV News employee) and Niall Donnelly. The others I couldn't be fussed about.
Also, I wonder if newsroom redundancies will see Lynda Fulford get the boot at last
Speaking of which, I am surprised UTV aren't using these job cuts to clear out the dead wood in Presentation; mind you, in UTV terms that would probably mean no more live continuity and everything becoming pre-recorded.
I will not miss UTV Life that much, though I believe plans have been mooted for a features-style weekly magazine programme on UTV - which, ironically, is how UTV Life started back in 1998.
