So, did Marc turn up on last night's Late and Live then?

Yep, he certainly did. Tina crossed to him four or five times throughout the programme to read out viewers' texts and e-mails. I'm actually in the process of uploading the new Late and Live page to UTV Today at the minute. I'll post the link here tomorrow!

The reason this page isn't linked to from the main site is that I'm testing a new layout and design for this page. For starters, the images are now much larger than they were before, and the width of the page has been increased to match. I would appreciate it if you could give me some feedback on this page layout as I will eventually be increasing the size of the images on all pages (probably not until the summer though!) Many thanks!

The new style page looks great, it's nice to see the images in a fuller size, I hope it doesn't take you too long tinkering about with every page...

Few things worth mentioning. Firstly, a nice breakbumper being used last night during Britain's Got Talent. It was probably used last Saturday as well but I missed it last week so I'm not sure.

Also, we had a different version of the new ECP menu used on the Benidorm credits on Friday night, this time for Pushing Daisies. The Late & Live one is still being used, mostly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

And finally, looks like all new promos on UTV have been given the ITV1 treatment with the logo staying on screen throughout instead of just appearing at the end. All the new promos that have been introduced since the middle of the week have the logo on them so I assume it will be standard from now on.

See they still can't make their mind up about what logo to use...

UTV have now gone one step further and added programme categories to their promos! They now read UTV drama, UTV entertainment etc. throughout the promo until the endboard appears! Only caught these two so far so I don't know what other categories there will be!

The new ECP menus have now been rolled out across the daytime programming as well so the old yellow and black ones are now officially gone! The full screen ones that appear on the soaps haven't been changed yet though. On that note, it seems UTV are trying out a different endboard on the Grand Prix promo. This is the only one it's being used on at the moment so it remains to be seen whether this is an end to the yellow and black promo endboards as well. If it is, it would make sense for UTV to ditch the promo style idents as well because they will be the only thing from the yellow and black look to remain. At the minute everything looks to be a bit of a mish-mash because nothing matches but if they were to relaunch everything to match the new ECPs I think we could have a pretty decent new look.

Is Vernon Kaye doing in-vision continuity for UTV now or something?

Nothing has ever matched on UTV since the mid 1990s when they started shedding jobs and seemed to abandon a cohesive approach to presentation.

I think it's time for a new logo for UTV Media, I feel the current logo has served its purpose long enough, it looks very dated IMO, and I would welcome a logo that is used consistently across UTV Media's portfolio of outlets.

Another new announcer?? Or just a one-off? We'll have to wait and see I suppose! This is the way Marc Mallett started off, he was tested out during the day and then brought in to do primetime...
