I take it the UTV 5:30 ident was on for all of 3 seconds? Lots of times Its just gone from ads to UTV Live, or the long music version of the Breakbumper ident, cut off midway.
Anyway, Looks good. I take it that it used the same music as the Blue Breakbumper.

Yep. Same music as before. We'll probably get bored of it very quickly too...
Its not like UTV to use an ident into the news anyway. They never really have - once the clock was dropped (from regular use, at any rate!!!) circa 1998, they just tended to hold on their last trailer until the news started.

I noticed that during this past week. I couldn't make out what they were first time, then I saw that they were some form of snowflake. Hopefully due to the glassy texture of the snowflakes, them being blue and with squares in the background, they were NPU that have created a UTV version and given it to them, which they have started to use early.
Hopefully itv1 will be using this, as it looks great compared to the fireworks. Though UTV did use snow when itv1 used fireworks, but hopefully it will be part of a big itv1 christmas presentation set.
Don't know if anyone else was watching UTV on Saturday afternoon, they showed what will probably be their Christmas ident at 3pm linking into "Beethoven's Second".
It has the falling snowflakes as seen in the trailers, with the UTV ident in centre, the moving lines effect of the new general ident, and Christmas bells seguing into the ITV1 "light" ident music.
Given that UTV didn't roll out their Christmas idents until 23rd December last year, they are extremely quick off the mark this time around.
Are they going for the record of the earliest showing of a Christmas ident on the ITV network?
Hmm. Interesting that they would roll it out this early. I hope that it is networked and not just a UTV production. Or if it is, I hope that itv do something as good, if not better. Though the glassy look looks too much like the 2003 itv1 background squares.
Its nice to hear that they added bells to the usual ident tune, i wouldn't mind if itv1 did this, though a different set for the celebs, different ideas and christmas music would make them the best, and if rumours are true could make them the only channel to be different from the previous year.
Saw the UTV Christmas ident today at 5pm, and I think its rather good. I hope ITV1 use something like that, and maybe Scottish and Grampian might even bother this year??? Maybe???

I hope if itv1 do use this, there music will be a bit better, even if its just the generic ident with bells over the top!
As mentioned above, I have no doubt that this animation was provided by London. We might see something similar in use on Network as a 'News' ident maybe. However, I'd say that the snowflakes will be largely confined to programme trails.
I suspect the celebs will occupy most junctions over the Christmas period again this year though - in something not too far removed from last year's effort.
