UTV gains ground in SMG merger..

Looks like UTV will turn out to be the majority shareholder and dominant partner if/when the merger happens.

O if u look at it from the other side of the coin, a chance for the new larger company to become more of a competator to itv plc with regards to franchise rounds etc. As im sure the UTV company will keep in the regional brands.......something to think about anyway. We can stil llive in hope!

Everyone seems to have forgot about Channel Television, they would be the only independent left by then wont they? Shame they chose to rename themselfs ITV1 Channel Islands

may I ask, after we go digital, someone said bidding for the ITV licences is pointless does that mean there will NOW own the CH3 for good?

Not intirely sure to be honest, I would imagine they would go up for bidding again but then again they should have been up for bidding about 2-3 years ago although they allowed all to extend for ten years

Maybe, but hopefully not, just UTV...United TeleVision
Although this wouldnt say what companies are united so hopefully the identities will remain separate.

Remember is SMG that getting brought it, there probably leave the TV names alone but what coudl you rename SMG and UTVplc

which controls Radio stations, 3 tv stations, a Advertising company for cinemas

what about: Celtic media group?
