UTV Cock up

UTV has poor quality VT Machines compare to the rest of the network.

Even the Channel Television has a better quality picture.

I feel sorry for viewers in UTV Land lol

It's not the VT machines, it's the servers, the quality is rubbish, not much better than VHS.

And on last night's UTV Live there were more problems with their playout servers - the screen crashed to black at least three times, with no apology for the loss of pictures. Not just during VT, but also during studio pieces.

Are the crew in Studio 2 at Havelock House, gallery and studio, aware of these technical problems going out on air?

And what does that say in the bottom right corner? ITV... 1?!?

I tawt I was watching UTV!

Seriously, they faded out after a frame of UTV ident into the network feed too early.

The problems yesterday were nothing to do with servers, there were three-second drops to black every so often all day on UTV. COuld have been a problem anywhere in the broadcast chain between Havelock House and the uplink.

Thursday 29th April, 12.30pm

Joined ITV News 10 seconds late... just in time for the main titles missing the main headline. Reason? Over-running trail on YOOOUTEEEVEEE!

It’s not the first nor is it the last time that has happened. Shocked UTV had no ident before the news LOL ......and even when they do its not the generic one. More likely the one zooming out from a pile of horse manure!

It wasn't that often-repeated ten second trail for Heartbeat was it?

Or was it that Great Kelly Car Giveaway promotion?

Erm... I wasn't actually paying too much attention to detail of what trail it was!! I was flicking back from Border at the time who'd already gone to the News... as ya do...

UTV's satellite output has dropped to black for 4 or 5 seconds 4 times in the past 20 minutes... seems that whatever bit of kit is faulty is getting worse...

And again last night from around 9:10pm onwards...

Why has nobody got to the bottom of these UTV blackouts yet?

They're all on holiday?!!
