Almost certainly yes. I'm not sure the BBC were aware of the bitter rivalry between Southampton and Portsmouth when they named Solent as such, but good job they did !

A good job they didn't call it Radio Hampshire too as two years after it opened the Isle of White ceased to be part of Hampshire

And Bournemouth moved into Dorset Cool

Of course more recently Southampton and Portsmouth are now no longer part of Hampshire

Basingstoke is now the largest town in the county. Who'd have thought that!

Southampton and Portsmouth haven't been governed by Hampshire County Council since 1997 - but they remain parts of the ceremonial county of Hampshire.

Just as Southend remains part of the ceremonial county of Essex, Milton Keynes remains part of the ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire, and the Medway conurbation remains part of the ceremonial county of Kent.

The announcer said “ now on utv” before Lough Foyle. Has this been said before local programming?

Similarly a verbal reference to 'now on UTV' was made into the 9pm junction and that was for a network show (although there was a regional show being plugged in the same anno too). Edit - Checking network, they were busy plugging their 10.45 show in the same junction too.

19th October and still no Julian and Gillian. Matt Sterling and Michael McGrane have been doing the weekend weather I think they’re trainees

Yes and still no word on when Pamela & UTV Life (hopefully without the folded ribbons logo) are returning which is beginning to look more weird now that even the ITV regional programming for Border Scotland is back on air which they (ITV) literally only produce because Ofcom force them too

Matt and Michael have both completed their year-long ITV News training schemes and are now filing reports for UTV Live.

Ali's been back at UTV for a few years now as a Content Editor, a mainly off-screen role.

Having verbal announcements that say "UTV" spoken over idents that visually say "ITV" is f**kwittery of the highest order. 🙄

Of all the potential options for usage of the ITV and/or UTV identities in NI, I didn't expect something as ridiculously stupid as this. Thumbs down

That sounds like a place where the KKK would live... Shocked Confused

Meanwhile, the island located across the Solent from Hampshire is the Isle of Wight . Razz

Er yeah, how did that happen? I've been there a few times and even have friends there.

I'm going to blame my phone keyboard's auto 'correct' Rolling Eyes

The 'Life' part of the UTV Life logo is still hideous even with the new titles from 2018
