There is only one studio at City Quays, with the news set at one end, and opposite a general purpose area for UTV Life etc. The days of two or more studios for UTV are over.

Quite sensibly, considering the other studios were barely used. UTV Life, View from Stormont and UTV Live all shared a studio at Havelock House.

Does anyone know the floor size of their new studio? I know Studio 1 at Havelock was 2,500 Sq Ft, I bet this one is much smaller, and with a lower ceiling height.
Just flicking through the channels and stopped upon View from Stormont. The lighting in that studio hasn't improved any... multiple shadows, flares, glares, and looks incredibly cold. Some terribly awkward camera angles too.

Seems UTV are crushed into a very small studio space on their floor at City Quays which has made the look of their sets poor. No forward planning at all, just shove sets into a small space and hope for the best. You get the attitude UTV does not care anymore about presentation under their new owners.

They never cared about it much when they were their own owners!
The set doesn't look great, but that's more to do with the set design for the regions rather than UTV themselves (although the quality of lighting across the regions is hugely variable). Aside from that, the quality of UTV Live is much better than before - the cameras are of a decent quality and the straps all animate on and off screen properly. More generally, by taking ITV presentation this is probably the best UTV has ever looked!
Yes the channel presentation is the best it has ever looked. I agree, the news graphics are much better too and the technical output of the cameras (now being HD) is great. It's just a shame it's all let down by the studio lighting. I know it's a poor set design (the black bars in particular) and the studio terribly is cramped... but a decent lighting designer could make it look so much better.

I think the utv logo looks terrible and there's not much variety in the idents.
I'd much prefer it branded itv than have it as a quarter breed of the main channel.
It's a step up from what came before but it's still not perfect.
Strange how they moved to new facilities and then ended up with a news studio that seems smaller than the one they had before and poorly laid out sets for other shows that share that small space with plenty of little niggles that make it look so amateurish and basic than what it should.
I agree, the presentation is much nicer than we've ever had but it isn't perfect and the mash up is a bit grating at this point. I hope it isn't long before the UTV name is ditched and they just call it ITV (or ITV NI when relevant). It's already that in all but name anyway.

Havelock House was big, many floors. and two main studios, 2,500 Sq Ft and 1,600 Sq Ft each. Now they are in City Quays, they are restricted to just one floor, and with limited studio space, I bet they have around 1,800 Sq Ft space in total, and because they are just on a floor in an office building, the studio is not a dedicated built studio, but rather converted office space. That has made the difference.
