Just seen the UTV Christmas-style break bumper - nice of them to pay tribute to Southern Television 25 years after they lost their franchise! Wink

That's just a happy coincidence - it was probably designed by some meeja graduate not even born when Southern went down the tubes...

Oh god. Help us all.

We havent had in vision continuity on HTV Wales since New Years Eve 1992 and I still miss it almost 14 years later.

I like the IVC backdrop, and the fact it appears to change colours - does anyone know yet if it's another piece of recycling blurred out? Smile

Have UTV anything special regarding IVC this year? Or will it just be used whenever Julian is on duty? Given then Christmas Day is a Monday, it would be nice to have Gillian on duty and in vision...

Well last year they had Robin Taylor and Julian in-vision on Christmas day but that was a Sunday. Suppose we'll just have to wait and see who's on duty on Monday and whether or not they decide to go in-vision!

That dark suit wasn't a good idea.

He's like the Cheshire Cat; a grinning face floating in space.

UTV have tonight changed their programme promotion endboard graphics to match the rest of the Christmas presentation package:

The "generic" version of the ident has a bloomin' video freeze after 10 seconds! Evil or Very Mad I thought those were banished into oblivion.

Nice of UTV to resurrect the jingle first used on the Barney and Busker idents in 1997 - makes me wish they were still using their 1993 logo and presentation devices, they put anything used since to shame.

A nice announcement by Gillian into Emmerdale: "You're watching UTV, your home for Christmas".

I've heard Laura Hughes's voice again on a few trailers - it's been a while since I've heard her voice on UTV. Do they still have the voiceover man with the English-sound accent around?

Also spotted the end of a trail for A UTV Christmas - which, for the benefit of anyone interested, is on this Friday at 9.00.

And finally, heard Bill Smith (ex-UTV announcer, ex-City Beat newsreader) reading the travel news on U105 earlier this afternoon - are UTV trying to keep as many of their former announcers as they can in employment?

Yes they seem to be saying that quite a lot now, it's like the STV "Altogether" phrase, gets a bit annoying when you hear it in every junction!

I've always wondered what her name was, thanks Col! She's only cropped up within the last week or so, before that I hadn't heard her in ages. And yes, the English-sounding man is still around but I haven't heard him recently, they must have brought Laura in instead of him!

Looks like the PC police have been at it again, the Derry City ident has now been changed to Londonderry City! Laughing

Could we possibly get through a day without the "PC" term - please?

In any case, it would be only be "PC" if there were two versions. Then both sections of the community (or comm-ooon-tea if you're the SDLP's Alex Attwood) could equally have things to complain about.
