UTV Christmas Ident

I hope THAT isnt the ident we get to see in the rest of the UK - its very poor -especially the Merry Christmas text beneath the logo.

The first couple of seconds with the dancing shapes is currently at the beggining of some ITV1 promotions and maybe UTV have just borrowed that and stuck some snowflakes afterwards! (lets hope so)

Also I noticed another ITV1 Christmas promotion today that featured ice in the background rather than clouds or ribbons. This idea could easily be adapted for the sombre newsy-type idents with the characters and the lines (posted on ITV XMas thread) featuring aswell.

I think you are right. The start of the ident with the animated 'characters' does not seem to fit in with end of the ident. Watching it again, it feels like something is missing.

If I was to hazard an educated guess, I'd say that on the full ITV1 version, the little characters may morph into the logo at the end.

The end of it has been obviously adjusted to fit the UTV logo, and involved a fair bit of airbrushing to get it right.

It was aired into the first local programme quite possibly becuase it was only finished yesterday

It would have made more sense for UTV to use last years snow flakes for their end board, as least the colour would have matched more. Still nice though, cant wait to see the ITV version!

The traditional UTV jingle sounded as if its about to make a break though on the ident but no we get the current ITV 1 jingle.

Yeah, I spotted last night the UTV jingle used on one of the idents, bizarrely during a break in "The Grinch", sounds like the same version used on the 1998 Xmas idents to me.

Makes a change from the soft 2002 ITV1 ident soundtrack, anyway.

And why have they used a different logo to the one with the "scratch" at the end?

Was it worth having advert breaks in The Grinch yesterday? On ITV1Wales the breaks were full of promotions - I assumed that maybe UTV had adverts and so the rest of the network had to break away for them?!?

From the one break during The Grinch I saw, it was filled with promos and an ident...

OT, but I spotted during a break on UTV last night an advert for UTV Internet, when will ad makers realise that there are more actresses in Northern Ireland than Alexandra Ford? For a moment I thought it was another Reduce Reuse Recycle PIF.

It really wouldn't surprise me if it was comign from tape and they had to change to the second part!

On the other hand it could have been technical issues, but then again the regions would have been aware of it in advance. I'm guessing more logistical reasons.

The ident before Tonight with Trevor McDonald tonight had the UTV Jingle on it. Something I haven't heard on UTV in nearly two years!
