I dont watch 3 News either but I was flicking through the channels from UKTV i think!! then saw a story on 3 news but only saw a studio and it said that the studio is underway and john and carols show will air in april (cant stand the both of them!)

TV2 THEME SONG

The TV2 theme song 'In the Neighbourhood' used in idents is a re-record of 'In the Neighbourhood' by New Zealand hip-hop group Sisters Underground, first released in 1994. It borrows elements from the Sesame Street children's show song (namely the way the title is sung, which is almost exactly the same) mixed with other lyrics and a hip-hop, Pacific Soul flavour.

'In the Neighbourhood' was a big hit in 1994, staying in the NZ Top 50 for twelve weeks, peaking at number six.

It rated number 58 in the Best New Zealand Songs of All Time vote.

One of the (now-defunct) group's members has since had a song chosen for a global Diesel clothing campaign.

(I've tried to find lyrics to 'In the Neighbourhood' online but no luck so far. I think it was last re-released on the 'Proud' CD compilation.)

Heres a quick look at the Sky One Logo that I made. I think it is alright in thr ovals is uses skys colours Red and Yellow and I quite like it, but what do you think? Is it good enough for TV?

I do think it does look a bit old school!

It's nice, but the "1" is a wee bit two big for my liking.
(altho, It'd be nice to compair that to the real thing, *Hint Hint* )

I think if Sky were to come on here and pick one, they would probably go with bbcworld2003's one, mainly because it is not far removed from its current logo.

HBK's design is a bit more 90's (no offence) and probably one that Sky wouldn't use, EDIT: It would look heaps better without the split)
Does anyone know what kind of idents Orange (before they rebranded it Sky 1) used ?

Well it was a quickie and I prefer this style (Sorta Mid 90's). Might develope this in to a real mock.

Not bad, but for the NZ market the 'one' is too similar to NZ's channel One, which traditionally spells out 'One' as its logo rather than use the numeral.

Sky One here uses orange a lot at the moment- it's a very 90s colour, methinks, abit passe. The channel is much like early-days UK Channel 5 (i.e., mostly low-budget dross) so vibrant colours still need to be used.

I think that TV3 really need to chop off the fern in their watermark (I think I've said that before though)

What netowrks do yuo think will go under ident changes this year ? I think Prime and possible TV2 (I hate their programme ads so much, they look so cheap, and so do the Program Returns.). Their watermark is very annoying, they should have the one they use for basketball the 2 sport water mark but just take off the sport, its much smaller and would look better.

C4 is horrible too, too big and they could just have C4 flash up with the name of the song at the start and end. (Do C4 Use the old sticky tv studio ?)

Maybe Prime too, it looks so amateur, they should have the one that use at the bottom of the ads at the top (The 9 dots with Prime beside it)

Ones is by far the best, fades in light shot and isn't that bad in a dark shot either.

But the one news one looks pretty poor, they should just leave the other watermark for one up there.
One news set is my favourite news set because it is so modern and can easily be adjusted (like when they changed from orange to light blue, just took some railing or something down and changed the lights), but I feel their opening sequence is pretty bad, I don't like it, I preferred the one they used before they changed to this new one.

3 news new opening sequence is pretty ugly as well, perhaps because it just doesn't go with the current set.

Primes is possibly the best because it is so quick because is only a 1/2 hour show they need more time for items.

Thats my rant, now....

Anyone know when Holmes new show starts ? Close up starts 17 January, I think Holmes may start 24 January when his radio show begins again i think. Cambell's begins in April. Also I ahve heard that TV3 might move back their evening programming proper until 8pm, as they may move the Simpsons to 7:30 but I'm not sure.

Well!! Im gonna answer many or comment on alot of your comments...

1. I think tv2 will get a change of idents etc this year. I too like the 2 logo used in 2 Sport and it looked very good watermarked on screen.

2. C4 go way over the top with there watermarks. on the left side a big C4 water mark on the bottom right is the programme watermark.. rediculous. and also today I noticed that they even had a big day out watermark a the top left of the scree AWFUL 3 watermarks on screen which were all too big were just a mess. Also it most likely was the old Sticky TV set... but as it only being a big peice of whatever they call it is just white and light up so not really a set.

3. The one news dog is very poor because it is outlined and the transperancy strength is not as much as the normal One, One Sport and TV 2 etc etc.

4. Yes the One News set is very hi tech and furturistic... and it is easy to change lighting when needed... Telstra Clear Business was totally blue... now ASB Business is sort of grayish/white and yellow (looks very good) and also now with the blue and green looks good... It only takes a few seconds to change the set look ie... if it was a gay pride one news specail the studio could be coloured in rainbow colours!!..... Are you talking about the opening sequence with the music and titles?? I think is very good as with the music.. Theres something about the music I like

5. 3 News opening is Powerpoint quality and very poor. I dont like tv 3news very much and never have and most likely never will !

6. Prime news isnt to bad but the set is Sky News Australias and the opening titles are just rebranded to prime from Aussies Network Nine News.

7. Close-up --- Breakfast --- Headlines, will all come from a brand new set.. its the same set which has 3 Plasmas and for each different show it will be changed around,,, desks, chairs etc.. and for each show the set will be given its own identiy. They were rehersing yesterday.

Not sure about holmes' new show but dont really care cos I cant stand the short wee fulla!!
