I remember seeing this logo here before, but as a mock. You will have to move down the page to see what i mean, but in the case we have seen many times, that people are in fact ripping other peoples mocks, or in this case, an actual ident off.

Which of course there is 2 pages of ranting about on that thread.

just to say, if newswatch (then BBC Tour) was aware of this being a real ident, then he should be suspended from the forum, becouse others have gotton done just for making bad mocks, he ripped off peoples!! Same in a way, but still, only an idea!! No offence NewsWatch

From Prime's later logo, am I right in assuming it has some affiliation to the Nine Network? The older ident was the same one used for Prime in Oz.

Was the person that posted that BBC Two mock saying sorry to a person that claimed it as their ident?? These are purely of tv2 TVNZ Enterprises and if this was seen by TVNZ there would be trouble, because TVNZ have serious copyright laws and another which I cant remember.

Your very correct indeed here is the television channels background;
In July 1997, Prime Television Australia acquired 34 UHA licences in New Zealand, covering all major cities and towns. The licences were purchased from United Christian Broadcasting International for approximately AUS$3.6 million.
Prime Telelvision New Zealand began broadcasting on Sunday, 30 August 1998 at 6.30pm. It mostly screened classic brittish programming, documentaries, sports and dramas aimed at the 30 plus audience.
Prime's terrestrial broadcast covers 65% of the population, although in October 1998, Prime was the first terrestrial channel added to the Sky Satellite Service, potentially reaching the whole New Zealand population.
In February 2002, Prime entered into a joint venture with the Nine Network Australia to provide New Zealand with Nine's own programming. This enabled Prime to screen quality Australian programming as well as first-run movies and shows from the USA. This completely changed the lineup of Prime, now appealing to a broader demographic.

The line seen through the '2' represents a Pacific wave, a specifically New Zealand twist based on our location on the Pacific rim and NZers love of the beach and sea, according to publicity put out in the early 90s when the '2' was launched.

For more information about the thinking behind (NZ) TV3's logo and reaction to it by members of NZs design community, see http://www.agm.co.nz/?category=33&id=172

Another thing to shed light on design influences that may not be apparent to foreign viewers- the 'koru' pattern seen in the first TV2 logo in the 1970s and in the original TV3 logo (the 'curl' you see)- it is a Maori (native NZer) motif used a lot in woodcarvings and tatoos- Air New Zealand's tail logo also features a koru.

Interesting that while NZ's terrestrial TV idents are all of a very high standard, those on Sky's Sattelite platform are (mostly) godawful.

If I could figure out how to put a Sky One JPG in here, I would.

Windows media player animated TV One idents and promotions sometimes feature in the 'Video' section of TV One's official website.

See 'Video' on the TV One homepage and scroll down within it- as of right now, there is the 'Choose One' promotion available to view- at other times there may be other idents.
