The "slick, stylish identity" of "In the Neigbourhood", was very boring and infact are more boring than the current ones, In those ones all they had were people mountain biking or drinking coffee or holding a surfboard. At least in these new set, there is a lot more going on in them and the idea of "2gether" suits the clips more than "In the Neighbourhood" did. People are together. Beaches, forests usually aren't in the neighbourhood as such, even if In the Neighbourhood is also meaning "always there" it still makes it look stupid.
The graphics are even worse. The PRG's were very amateur and unprofessional.
I mean you can't say this looks very good seriously, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/bbcworld2005/2.png sometimes there would be a huge long bar for a show with a small name, the way it faded in was shocking and the design was appalling overall.
The new idents are much much better than that, they are much more professional and overall are more easier on the eye.
The TV3 set, I'll save for another day.
I stick by my opinion; we'll have to agree to disagree.
If you prefer seeing babies covered in placenta and people fannying about backstage that's cool- it's not so much *what* they're showing (although I prefer shots of surfers and beaches and coffee houses over baby's placenta and messy backstages) as it is *how* they're showing it.
It's as though they've hired a cheap home video camera and then thrown the idents together on their PC at home. The 'In the Neighbourhood' idents had a much more polished feel to them.
I've sent an email to TVNZ suggesting that if they insist on keeping the new people idents on 2 they could make them less amatuer-looking by perhaps broadcasting them in black and white, with a small hint of colour- see the German RTLII ident screen shots here (click on RTLII symbol [looks like a plug socket above the letters RTL] ) as an example of what I mean: http://www.tv-station.de.vu/
It would certainly make them more distinctive and a little less like a dodgy entry on America's Funniest Home Videos.
