*update* New Zealand TV Ident Thread

Yes, monday it is. The New set will probably be Monday for 3 news instead of what seems to be the norm at the moment, Sunday. I wonder if there is nay chance of the 3 news look being done over? Porbably not seeing it was changed about 3 months ago but they could to align it with the set.

Is it just me or is BBC TWO's 2 much uglier than TVNZ's tv2's 2??

The New 3 News set is wonderful and I quite like it! and if it wasnt me dreaming then I think I saw a keyboard and mouse on the desk! the first time tv3 have ever used computers on 3 News! I also like how they go to John Campbell before the break!

Campbell live hasnt yet started but im just concerned over the reason why all three current affairs programmes have to involve cities!
Close-up has a shot of Auckland after ad breaks and Paul Holmes has a city themes opening and a themed city set, and seeing ads for campbell live they use a shot of Auckland city in the backdrop and for there opening... oh well i get over it.

TV One: Close-up 7pm
TV 3: Campbell Live 7pm
Prime: Paul Holmes 7pm

TV3's news set is now my favourite, over One News, which is saying something. I couldn't beleive it when I saw it when I saw it The designof the set is very good and it is honestly way way better than their old one. The news article posted earlier had me scared it would be a piece of wood. The new opening titles are also much better and 'jazzed' up but at the end there is a huge space between the 3 news (which is on the right, middle of screen). Perhaps they could put the main 3 or 4 items for the opener in bullet point form before going into the studio.

I really liked the bit at the end when Mike Mcroberts said " now we have john cambpell with Campbell Live, then we went to an aerial shot from the corner, where some cameras were turning around for john campbell and then you could see the two sets for the shows, thought that was good.

Campbells opening sequence is very Paul Holmes-like, I mean very. The speeding blur of traffic, tall buildings etc.

Loved his intro: "Hey you fellas"

The main story was very 20/20-esque and was very well done. The reading of Brash's biography was very laboured though.

Prediction: Campbell Live will be top rated 7pm Current Afarirs show, Close Up 2nd, Paul Holmes 3rd.

Campbell Live because I beleive he has the abilty to do very well in this slot.
Close Up 2nd because anyone will watch tv1 at 7pm even if were replaced by Live Coverage of a traffic light or something.
Paul Holmes 3rd because most people can't be arsed to switch to Prime and see what a good show it is. Paul Holmes has been doing some stunning interviews lately with Cave Creek survivors etc and his reporters becasue there is such a small team are working very hard and producing some great stories.

Well yes its my favourite set now.. tv one should reconsider the "futuristic" space age set!

I dont like the music very much for 3 news but everything else about it is AWESOME... and I only saw that like..... never about tv3 .... they must have got alot of money some how!! much more up to date with the tech world!

John Campbell also has a website for his programme campbelllive.tv3.co.nz i think.. from what ive seen on it... it looks like his show is going to be a funny one aswell!!

Oh I was also watching "The best of Paul Holmes" on Sky News earlie today.. and i have to say I fell very sorry for suzanne paul.. by the state of her on the telly... very touching it was.

It's taken me some time to get used to the top of the '2' for TV2...probably because the BBC's '2' looks simpler or has a less prominent curve, which I am used to.

I think TV2's new idents are a step backwards for the channel. Nor am I a fan of TV3's new news set.

TV2 had a slick, stylish identity with its 'In the Neighbourhood' theme, and the graphics were outstanding. Why on earth have they dropped them in favour of boring whiffs of coloured smoke and those home-video quality clips of people mucking around? The font chosen for the words used in the idents is boring too- looks like the same used in Telstra Clear ads. Boooooring!

If they're not going to ditch the '2 Together' theme any time soon they could at least think of coming up with a half-way decent theme song, funkier graphics and idents.

Don't mind the actual '2' logo itself, even if it is even more like the BBC 2 now that they've dropped the 'Pacific wave' from it.

As for 3 News' new incarnation- the set is hideous! Far, far too 'busy' with a riot of colours clamouring for attention. "Keep it simple, stupid!" I feel like emailing them. Hate the way they have a crap-brown strip with '3' on it to one side of the news reader in some shots. Eeew.

Campbell Live's set on the other hand... not too bad I guess. The whole nightime city background *is* getting a bit stale, yeah, but the koru motif is cool.

Simply select the channel you want from the menu at right of screen, then when that channel's page comes up, click on 'Videos', then select the ident you want.

The webmaster has only put one each of the latest One and 2 idents.

On One they're using a whole bunch created by graphic design students, some of them very colourful and surreal. On 2 there are different coloured versions of the Ink In Water series, some with different patterns than shown here. There are also some idents for 2 featuring 'real Kiwis' shown interacting with each other, as 2's new theme is '2 together'.

The good thing about this site is it also features some idents from the past, too.

Well I think every thing on tv2 is fine except the crap music and as you said "home video" idents.

3 News i dont think actually have a hideous amount of colours... have you seen it in full?? and yes the borwn strip with the 3 logo on it does get annoying.

When I get a new capture card I hope to show videos of One and 3 news and some idents and more etc of tv 1, 2 , 3 and C4 and prime etc

The graphics are even worse. The PRG's were very amateur and unprofessional.

I mean you can't say this looks very good seriously, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/bbcworld2005/2.png sometimes there would be a huge long bar for a show with a small name, the way it faded in was shocking and the design was appalling overall.

The new idents are much much better than that, they are much more professional and overall are more easier on the eye.

The TV3 set, I'll save for another day.
