Were they created by Sky or an outsider? (Not nessecarily directed at James Vertigan).

They all look rubbish. What's wrong with the Sky logo and then "news" or "arts" in the same font and colour? Simple.

Sky's logos have been rubbish for ages, the last good ones for me, personally were the "egg" ones

Worth noting that Sky Arts is using the corporate "sky" logo, which hasn't really appeared on any channel branding.

I thought they would have made a bit more effort with the Sky Arts logo, they could have made the Arts bit more, arty

It did appear *very* briefly on Sky Travel a few years back.

so Sky Sports is only one that remains untouched after all these years - i would have thought they'd have been in line for a 'refresh' this year.

Both a bit ugly, aren't they? I think this is proof that Sky's pretty much slipped off its' sanity perch. Don't trust the Sky Arts logo though, no idea where that came from and Martin ain't saying nothing, can at least say that the Sky Movies one is real though.

Crime & Investigation looks like it could be a government department logo for another pointlessly rebranded public service.

That Crime and Investigation logo has been in use for some time now.

The Sky Arts logo is from the April highlights press release.

Are you referring to the slight "egg shape" of the logo during the (commonly-referred-to-as) tombstone era Laughing

EDIT: PS I thought the two tombstone sets of idents were the best Sky have ever done!

EDIT 2: eg this one Sky Two 1996 (Clip from TV Ark I think)
