What a load of self-indulgent rubbish from these broadcasters.

Wonder if this might be the start of more cross promotion between the channels?

Honestly surprised they don't do it when they share sports rights.

They have occassionally for sports rights - the Paralympics on C4 were promoted at the end of the Olympics IIRC.

Just looked back at all BBC and ITV channels…

BBC One (8.58pm), ITV (8.58pm) and ITV2 have very similar summaries after the trailer.

BBC Two (8.58pm) introduced this with the Charged ident but there was no mention after.

And the trailer was sandwiched between commercials on ITV3 (9.00pm).

ITV4 aired at 9.01 so I even did not record that in full. Rolling Eyes

I wonder how Sky felt about it as one of the UK's main broadcasters?

Short version just played out after the regional news on BBC One.

Also on BBC Two before Newsnight.

I think the public service broadcasters probably felt the need to highlight their wares in some form, especially as the lockdown really seems to have boosted Netflix.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of this type of promotion as they jointly take on the bigger threats.

I wouldn't be surprised if the promo is edited in future to feature current and upcoming shows.

Didn't the press release mention it was a collaboration of free-to-air broadcasters?

You highlight your wares by making good content and traditional promotion online and in ad slots. We've seen in the ratings the past few years that good shows still draw in the crowds. Stuff like this isn't going to stop anyone loading up Netflix or Britbox. (although the latter is a project by a lot of these channels anyway, they know the next step when the BBC inevitably gets defunded and ITV becomes unprofitable).

This just screams of 'coming together' platitudes with no real 'coming together. It' s twaddle.

If they really want to get creative about content I'd love them to start taking on some of the more long form videogamers/youtubers and online content creators and scheduling it in early prime time. Many of these channels get hundreds of thousands and often millions of views, making an event viewing deal with these would be away of remaining relevant, not getting all doe-eyed about rubbish traditional dramas.

They weren’t synced up by the way, as BBC Two was quite a bit behind ITV, and I imagine the others may have been slightly different times as well

No, I had a flick around and they were all on at different times.

Not that it matters, and presumably it would have been very difficult to get them all to do it when it's not essential
