Does everyone on here have the equipment to record a channel straight to disk?
Thinking if 5 of us were able to do this then we could combine them all into a split screen video.
Any offers?

With the BBC channels you can always rewind back with iPlayer, so if we only have 3 it won't matter as much.

It's not so easy to grab decent video from iPlayer unless you have a powerful machine. I certainly don't.

When I’ve captured pres/news reports to share on this site, screen recordings from the iPlayer app, I feel, have more than sufficed in terms of image quality.

Well that video I posted in the TV Breakdown thread of BBC Parliament I recorded that off the iPlayer stream on my laptop... I just used screen recording software. Looking at it now I think its acceptable quality.

Sometimes its the point of what you're capturing rather than the overall quality of it.

If you know what you're doing with a program called streamlink and VLC media player you don't even need screen recording software. As VLC will do it for you.

What channel(s) can you cover with that?

Oh. I swear I remember reading somewhere about the networks having to opt in to the speech at the same time.

I think maybe in the past the Christmas message might have been done like that, but it's far easier just to send copies to everyone.

The broadcast the Queen did during the recent lockdown was played out live to air from the BBC to other broadcasters. It wasn't an opt in, they sent out an edit suite output to everyone (including their own playout supplier). This was so there was no leaking of what she said

Didn't ITV take a dirty BBC1 feed at one time for Party Political Broadcasts?

There was a story of Thames cocking up their timings (or similar) and the BBC announcer being heard. He jokingly sent Thames and invoice - they paid it

Indeed and if you're intending to put it in a quarter of the screen the quality doesn't need to be that good in the first place
