Ok so here’s a controversial opinion. I didn’t think the Carlton stars idents were all that. I found them very corporate and soulless.

I loved the Carlton Stars and the ITV hearts idents. I think they were the best package that the ITV Network have used. Even better when they had the regional names.

If you want an example of blandness and the start of picture postcard idents with a generic font- then look no further than the TSW seasons package from 1989 to 1992.

They may have spared us the 1989 generic look here, but the blandness to this day bleeds out of the screen.

As a result I do like the 1989 generic ITV look to this day.
