So... which company has had the best SELECTION of idents over the years? We're not talking about one particular ident here, we're talking about the channels' whole run of idents... who do you think has been most on the money over the years when it comes to idents? My choice would be LWT, always on top of it, but what do you lot reckon? Polls are open now! Smile

Ah tough question, BBC 1 has had nice globes and recently some very nice balloons that are very adaptable. BBC 2, the twos are classics and before them was ok, simple but alright. Channel 4, always inovative and nice. Sky Channels 85/96 I think are the best ever but I think overall Central has done very well. Expecially from 1994, the great cakes, and now the Carlton one which are among the top 3 currently on the network, even the text was alright, it may have been simple but it was adaptable and a change. Argh I don't know, i'm no good at favourites.

Channel 4s colour blocks were best! Shame they were axed in 1996. They dont even look dated now.

Most people might disagree that BBC One has some of the best idents. Fair enough! Smile

But since they've been on since October 1997, I have to confess I have had a liking for the ident styles, music and sequence. I once made a tape trying to record one of each, that was in 1998/1999. I recorded upto 40 minutes before finally re-using the tape for something else.

Those 40 minutes stretched across a period of 7 months.

I think overall BBC1 has had the best idents - the mirror globe of the 70s and 80s is an all-time design classic, the COW beautiful and the balloons inspired. Only the 1991-97 version is a bit of a clunker.

Oh no, no no, the BBC1 idents are the worst. The globe is such an unoriginal idea and to this day it still remains albeit in the form of a balloon. The BBC1 idents don't capture what the channel is about they have no energy and are deathly dull........ oh hang on, maybe they do capture what the channel is all about. That number 1 they adopted in the 90's looked sooooo 70's.

ITV companies and even ITV corporate logos have always been more creative and imaginative, apart from the BBC 2's, now they are pure genius.

Idents have always been at their most creative and original when they aren't generic. Ie, the current hearts idents.

BBC One idents have always been dull IMO, there's just nothing to them.

Channel 4 have gone downhill ever since the blocks vanished, Channel 5 are nothing special either.

The 2's, it has to be. Even though I don't particularly like them, they are the most successful idents ever created.

I've always been a fan of Sky's idents, because they're so Americanised. Sky have always had fantastic music, too.

How can anyone say that any other channel than Nickelodeon has the best idents? Wink I like them best cos they're just plain weird, and I like weird Smile

the sky corporate idents from 1995 and 1996 were the best of all time.

So majestic, and awe inspireing.

I must confess I voted for LWT, because I've found their idents have been top quality ever since they got rid of the 'From London Weekend' Orange ident back in the Seventies!

This is a bit like asking a chocoholic which Cadbury's confection do you love most? Very Happy

I have a few fav's but if I'm honest then Sky have been the ones to innovate and reinvent themselves in the most exciting way. I still love the 'Sky Symphony' and the glossy idents that went with it. Its only the current batch I'm not so keen on, sadly.
