Would OFCOM even alow a U.T.V. - Scotish Merger?

Hint: They (the ITC/OfCom) allowed the Carlton-Granada-Anglia-Meridian-Westcountry-HTV-Tyne Tees-Central-Yorkshire-Border-LWT merger(s) to take place.

That would leave just three comopanies operating all of the daytime schedules, with the biggest company having a big stake in the morning contractor.

So? There are very few, if any, remaining Channel 3 franchise ownership restrictions.

but there could STILL lose them right, at the next Channel 3 franchise bids take place?

After digital switchover the idea of bidding to run a channel and paying millions for it, when any cowboy outfit can get one on Sky within weeks for thousands, is quite outdated

I hope this alleged takeover doesn't go ahead. SMG have finally got things up to standard (presentation wise) and this takeover would probably damage that.

WHAT! You Edinburgh blokes are jist nae real. Laughing Presentation up to standard. You obviously do not watch early continuity on a Saturday and Sunday, which has been prerecorded since last December. SMG are incapable of playing out announcements in the correct order or timeslot. If I was a customer, I would asking for my money back, due to the high volume of commercials that are ruined by announcements that overrun. Prerecorded continuity does not work in Scotland; never has and never will.

Well you won't have to worry about that if UTV take over, they simply don't bother with continuity during the day at all.

Looks like ITV should loose their 'I.'! They'd be just like the rest.

you made that post purely to get an unnecessary dot into it didn't you. Why don't you just p.i.s.s. o.f.f. ?

Call me old fashioned, but I like dots in abbreviations. Mind you, I'm old enough to remember when phone, as in telephone, appeared as 'phone in many places. Though not 'bus (as in omnibus). As far as the topic's concerned, does ownership really mean much these days when regional presence, and programming, appears to be seen as a weakness and not, as it once was, the real strength of ITV (There, done it!)

There's an "early" on Saturday and Sunday now?

We do party a lot on the East coast.

You should join us instead of watching "The Adventures of the Blue Knight"!
