UKTV Xmas Idents

(December 2001)

UKTV are very likely to change their xmas idents this year as remember the presentation changed slightly, what in theory should happen is UK Gold 2 should get last years Christmas idents that were used on UK GOLD. And Uk Gold should get new ones just like they do with normal idents whenever they relaunch the channels!

Slightly off topic, but staying with UKTV...
There might be problems ahead for UKTV - Pearson, who are a partner, announced today it was suffering financial problems due to the downturn in Advertising revenue. It's laying off some folk at one of it's newspapers (FT I think but not sure)

Except of course last year UK Gold itself used the previous year's UK Gold Christmas idents, and UK Gold 2...well, I don't know, because I can't get it!

I wouldn't have thought the other UKTV channels would even have Christmas idents at all. Even the 'lesser' BBC channels Choice and Knowledge have never had Christmas idents. Hopefully that'll all change next year...

Also, the announcer said 'This is UK Style, part of the UKTV network' - I've never heard them reference UKTV before.

I have - funny how it's always the same voice that says that!

i'm afraid you are wrong.

Normal UK Style idents feature 4 pannels with different images in them in the shape of the UK Style symbol.

No, UKTV is owned by the BBC and Telewest (who own Flextech). Each have a 50% stake. At least that's what I thought!
