UKTV will be launching their next new channel on Monday 21st February which will be named UKTV Style Gardens. At first it seemed that this new channel would replace UKTV Bright Ideas but apparently this is not the case now. As of this day, all gardening programming will move to this new channel from UKTV Style. The TV Guides are already showing this change.
The channel will apparently broadcast 7.00am - 1.00am .
I expect UKTV have decided to put the word 'style' in the channel name so that they can get it put next to UKTV Style on the EPG rather than it being put at the end of the list which is what would happen if it was launched as UKTV Gardens (which i think is a better name)
EPG numbers on Sky Digital are apparently being adjusted like this:

142 UKTV Style
143 UKTV Style +1
144 UKTV Style Gardens
145 UKTV Food
146 UKTV Food +1
147 UKTV Drama

There are also rumours that UKTV Style +1 will change to UKTV Style +2 on the same day.

I also expect UKTV Bright Ideas +1 will launch in the near future to timeshare with UKTV G2 +1 like this:

UKTV Bright Ideas +1 7am - 7pm
UKTV G2 +1 9pm - 4am (Currently broadcasting but showing nothing during its down time)

Also, i wonder how long it is before we get UKTV Style Gardens +1 ? But not sure where UKTV Drama would be bumped off to if it did launch!

Who'd of thought that one day there would be so much useless crap on Sky?!

What was wrong with the day when we only had one (and we only need one) UK Style channel, God Knows how many we have and how many we are going to get, I mean do people really spend their time watching all of this stuff? The vast majority is nothing more than BBC repeats from the 1990's.

Thank God I have NTL, as they probably won't add it.

I also thought that the BBC (Worldwide) were only allowed to have a certain amount of UKTV channels, or has this been dropped?

I think this was dropped - the only thing restricting new UKTV channels before wa lack of transponder space!! But now they have an extra transponder and have the opportunity to DOUBLE the number of UKTV channels!!

This recent explosion of UKTV channels is reflected by the fact that UKTV decided to drop its old off air screen idea - of showing all the channels in the network - as it can no longer fit them all onto one slide!!

UKTV Drama +1 is probably on the cards soon as well..........

Might I turn your attention then, to the televisual "delights" of the inappropriately named "Unlimited TV" and all those other
extremely low budget channels of highly dubious quality that linger in and around that particular area of the Sky EPG.

These channels aren't just scraping the barrel, they've gone through the base, and are scraping the concrete beneath!

As for the news of UKTV's channel plans, they're spreading their programming thinner than Tara Palmer Posh-Bird!

I repeat what I've said many times before.

Never mind Drama +1; start the original channel at about 5pm or 6pm rather than wasting transponder space on a +1.

really doubt uktvbi will survive now, all gardening shows will revert to style gardens and most of uktvbis budget aswell, i give it 4 months before it close and replaced on freeview with style gardens

Most probably not as they'll argue that Bright Ideas is there way of getting UKTV Style & Food programmes onto Freeviw, it just so happens to also be on Sky.

yeah but uktvbi is failing to pull in them all important viewers and i believe they'll do the 'axe it before we get a bad name' thing, ftn could do with a revamp aswell while uktv/flextech are deciding to mess around with channels!!

these two channels dont really do a good job at introducing people to pay channels though do they???

I assume the idea is to split up Style completely into themed channels. It lost its food programmes, now it's losing its gardening..... all that's left is DIY/property type programmes.

I wouldn't be surprised to see UKTV Gardens, UKTV Homes and UKTV Food totally replacing UKTV Style eventually.

Bright Ideas is a diffrent case because it doesn't show terrestrial repeats, just original programming that hasn't already been seen on BBC1/2
