UKTV Style Gardens has had a soft launch on Sky from today on EPG number 144.
The dog is long, one letter longer than Bright Ideas.
I presume that in time that will drop the word Style from the title though.
The idents though are very nice, very nice indeed.
They're totally unrelated to style and revolve around flowers and plants being made up of garden tools such as rakes, shovels and trowels (sp?).
Yes the idents are excellent, the UKTV lifestyle channels have a tendancy for very clever idents.
I suspect what will happen eventually is that UKTV Style Gardens will become just UKTV Gardens and UKTV Style will become something like UKTV Home. With all the food and gardening programmes gone there's not much left for Style to broadcast
Yes, i predict that UKTV Style Gardens will rename itself UKTV Gardens in the next few months. I think it only had the word style in its name so it could get put next to UKTV Style on the Sky EPG and not at the end of the entertainment section.

Im not sure whats happening with UKTV Drama - will it close or expand its hours and launch UKTV Drama +1 ?? Who knows.....
Also, nothing is sharing with UKTV G2 +1 at the moment - i expect a new UKTV channel will launch to timeshare with this.

This makes sense as UKTV Bright Ideas shares with UKTV G2.
The only problem at the moment is that they've filled up all space from 142-147, so any further lifestyle channels and +1 channels would have to do a UKTV G2 and go at the end of the entertainment section.
Do you think if these rumours of the EPG reshuffle are anything to go by that they will group together all of the channels by the same broadcaster.
For example, all of the UKTV channels move to be next to each other Gold, Gold +1, G2, G2+1, Style, Style+1, Gardens (possibly a gardens +1 too), Food, Food +1, Drama (possibly a drama +1 too), and Bright Ideas.
Then group all of Sky's channels (one, mix, travel and vegas live, though they may leave vegas live at the end with all other gaming channels), and all other broadcasters, maybe even taking it as far as Living, Challenge & FTN being next to each other.
Theoretically it would make sense, but would they do something as drastic as this?

Or do a UKTV People +1 and go at the end of the Factual section. Only now to be joined by Teachers' TV.
If UKTV Gardens +1 launched, i think it would go on EPG 145. UKTV Food would move to 146 and UKTV Food +1 would move to 147. UKTV Drama could move next to UKTV Bright Ideas on 197.
Just seen some of the idents on UKTV Style Gardens and they are quite imaginative!
I still predict that it will change it name to UKTV Gardens in next few months.

UKTV G2 +1 could move to EPG # 198.
The current 148 & 149 (Travel Channel & Travel Channel 2) would move to 196 & 197 (currently occupied by UKTV Bright Ideas).
Slot 150 could either become Bright Ideas +1, or move G2 +1 down with some other UKTV channels, its a bit lonely on 256. This would leave 256, 257 & 258 free for anything else UKTV might introduce...
The only problem with the above idea is that i doubt Travel Channel & Travel Channel 2 will agree to being moved down the EPG !!! Travel Channel would not be happy! But, it would be good if Travel Channel & Travel Channel 2 does move!
Well, if it was put to them they could either have 194 or 256 then they would rather have 194. You could put TC & TC2 on 152 & 153, but I'm not sure Sky would do that seeing as S4C Digidol is on 151...
