When I tuned in the other day there was an episode of Butterflies on, with another scheduled immediately after. I'm not sure of the historical significance there.
Yes, that is an odd bit of scheduling. Mind you it's not as odd as some of the stuff on the History Channel in the US... no Top Gear on Yesterday yet!
This 'Imagine more', 'Imagined by UKTV' choice of phrase - I have no idea what it is supposed to mean.
Most of UKTV's content consists of repeats from the BBC's archives. To interpret it as UKTV having 'imagined' Dave or Eden in a creative sense would be a tad misleading - they commissioned Red Bee to do it.
It does come across as a bit of a generic, awfully 'blue skies thinking' style of slogan that says nothing and could be applied to myriad other companies -- but still...

Maybe history themed channels don't work?
Isn't The History Channel over here just filled with Ice Road Truckers, American Restoration, Pawn Stars, and Storage Wars?
Also, I only realised the other day that Yesterday was another archive channel. I always assumed it was a history channel.
Surely it's both? Showing archive programmes about history?

Yesterday's current slogan is apparently "Entertainment inspired by history" and I suppose Lovejoy very tenuously fits into that seeing as that he's an antique dealer - but the likes of Butterflies, Bergerac and Last of the Summer Wine don't fit at all. Seems Yesterday is becoming UK Gold by stealth.
UKTV have a big problem to contend with, their prime source of material the BBC as a result of DQF isn't producing as much material to fit the generic strands of each channel's output. I suspect more blurring of boundaries will be inevitable. Some contraction of channels seems likely in the coming years too.

UKTV are only taking the headline programming (which there is still a healthy flow of); they're not interested in Newsnight Review.

I feel this is the problem - with the number of channels all meant to pertain to specific types of programme, yet it appears they are all overlapping to a degree... Butterflies is a sitcom - according to the UKTV portfolio it foremost qualifies as a GOLD programme - not Yesterday.
Interesting to make the comparison to UK Gold - I'd go as far as that Dave, Watch, and GOLD can all be said to have simply spreaded the former UK Gold's entertainment programmes between them - at the very least, there is a clear overlap... And as with the Butterflies example, there will always be some doubt as to exactly which show belongs on which channel.
The new UKTV logo appears where the Dave dog is at the start and after breaks in programmes before switching to the Dave dog. I assume this now happens on all UKTV channels.

A small aside: about a month ago, Dave ran a trail for, I think, Alexander Armstrong's Big Ask. However, the end-board of the trailer wasn't the standard black-circular-Dave-logo-over-wallpaper affair, but a large 3D frosted-glass style Dave logo over the action. I only ever saw it the once - and it looked pretty good - but never again. Did anyone else see it?

They had a promo about a month ago which was heavily stylised and made to look like a fragrance commercial with the Dave logo appearing on a fragrance bottle, 'formulated by Dave'.
