Huh, they used to. Broadcast must've patched it. They did a half-assed job of it though if you can still get there from a Google search.

I think Watch, Dave, Alibi, Eden all work really well as the names of the channels. Watch has been widely debated as not been a strong brand and not really having a focus well I think it's a load of rubbish, I would argue it's the most talked about UKTV Channel even more than Gold. Certain shows do very well and I think generally the name seems to have caught on. The other 3 have quite good onscreen branding- Eden is visually stunning and Alibi has a good focus and the idents and promos give the channel an identity and i think it generally works well. Dave is the reason were in the situation as it was a total success- Branding and name were all spot on, it is another well talked about UKTV channel,

As for the others:
Gold is too associated with UK Gold- not necessarily a bad thing that could be an advantage depending on the direction however the channel as the 'UK Gold' isnt accossiated with the channels new focus of comedy. Which is an issue. Often people would say catch it Gold but now that really watch now. It's a difficult one.
Good Food always seemed to stand out as the channel that had a lack of imagination in terms of branding. But the content is quite good, orginal commissions, classics and more recent stuff from BBC give it good mix of programming. I think given a decent branding and name could be as good and successful as Alibi/Eden.
Yesterday seems to have lost its focus as people say more and more comedies from yesteryear are creeping into the schedule which isn't what people are looking for in 500's on the Sky EPG. That should stick to GOLD. A good documentary channel should work realistically however I think the 'Yesterday' name is a bit gimmicky for it targets audience. New branding and name should work for the channel.
Home is just a bit uninteresting. It doesn't shout about at you. The channel needs a total overhaul, keep the content roughly the same but whole new branding package.
Really.. Well I really don't know what it even does! The branding isn't much to write home about, the name is bit 'Take-a-Break Magazine'. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the next UKTV Channel to face the axe.
Blighty, the branding again isn't half as eye catching as Eden and I've never been keen on the name, it's all little too informal and again I'm not sure if there's much life left in the channel. And as previously said this 'era' should have been a time for the channel to grow with the Jubilee, Royal Wedding, Royal Baby on the way this could all been a nice direction for the channel, but into me it seems lost. I think this could be the 2nd Channel to face the axe.

All in all I think UKTV's branding strategy wasn't a total failure some are actually very good and much better than the UKTV predessors. Watch, Dave, Alibi, Eden, Good Food (Under a new name) & Yesterday (Under a new name) could be quite good and very successful. Home, Really & Blightly need some major work.

Well the first bit of pres using the new logo appeared today, the DOG starts as the UKTV logo before morphing into the usual one (on Dave at least).

I would say Dave is the most talked about channel, followed by Gold, and then the others just fade into the background. Considering Watch had the biggest launch budget out of the lot of them, I'd say it's failed miserably in brand awareness.

They'd be far better off making Watch, the 'hub' channel of the network and calling it UKTV seeing as they wish to re-establish the brand.

Also, I only realised the other day that Yesterday was another archive channel. I always assumed it was a history channel.

Well this turned out to be a bit of a damp squib. I can't see the whole country being re-introduced to UKTV just by flashing a currently-unrecognisable logo in the corner of the screen for a few seconds.

Surely it's both? Showing archive programmes about history?

When I tuned in the other day there was an episode of Butterflies on, with another scheduled immediately after. I'm not sure of the historical significance there.

That earns a well deserved "UGH" from me.

Surely more appropriate for them to use "Chosen by UKTV" as they liked the "Made for the BBC, chosen by G.O.L.D." saying for a while.

They've definitely started showing a wider variety of programmes than they did when it was UKTV History.
