UKTV Rebrand and new channel

It's a shame - there was a promo on UKTV History yesterday (ha!) that was for the history of rock or something tedious - I wasn't really paying attention.

But it was someone smashing a guitar filmed on a high-speed camera - in reverse. I thought that was very inventive of them, and would make a great ident... hmmm...

Idents arent that interesting, in my opinion anyway. Music is very catchy on some on some of them though.

They read it out as "Gee Oh Ell Dee", rather than "Gold" though, which is annoying.

The next stage of the rebrand: Home (UKTV Style) and Really (UKTV Gardens):

It appears to be less of a rebrand, and more a launch of two totally new channels, with Home dropping Style's 'style' content, and focusing on property, gardening and home makeover shows, and Really becoming a female orientated channel of lifestyle pap.

Home is a good name, but Really? Seriously, which muppet came up with that?

Even Bush would be a better name

The tagline they've chosen is rather apt then:
"Really - you couldn't make it up"

I'm losing track now - so does that just leave UKTV Food now as the only channel yet to be rebranded?

Yes, they just need to over-cook UKTV Food and then the UKTV brand will be dead and buried - after spending years trying to build it up.

They will have succeeded in having a collection of channels which don't seem to have any relation to each other to the casual viewer and hide quite nicely in the EPG amongst all the others.

They really need to go back and have a look at GOLD. The only people who call it "Gee-Oh-Ell-Dee" are the continuity announcers, and it sounds as sensible as "Bee-Eye-Oh" as a rebrand for Bio.
