Never been to or heard of The Eden Project? That isn't about gardening, it's about the beauty of nature.

And I'm sure that, if this big revamp of their channels doesn't work out, then yes, they will embark upon some sort of rebranding exercise to back to how they were. But it will work, because the vast range of channels they have need to be unique because it is more and more important to have brands that stand out and mean something. UKTV doesn't.

The Yesterday logo seems to be in a different font to the trails/website - plus the background to that slide looks like it's got a military/Sharpe "theme". Will there be lots of different variations to the Yesterday logo, do we think?

Edit: I've just watched the video on http://uktv.co.uk/holdingpage/yesterday/, and it looks like we will.

I do think sooner or later next time UKTV get the marketing execs in we'll be seeing UKTV Eden, UKTV Blighty, UKTV Alibi etc. - or at the very least the UKTV logo will be incorporated into the station idents to show they're all part of one big family.

I was looking at a leaflet for either Sky or Virgin that was pushed through my letterbox the other day and I noticed that Watch, GOLD, Alibi et al are all shown as 'from UKTV' (complete with the UKTV logo incorporated into their own) to reinforce their connection to one another for marketing purposes.

Yes indeed, and I wasn't trying to suggest that they were about to slap 'uktv' underneath their on-screen logos, but they do seem keen to emphasise the fact that the re-branded channels do remain part of an established bouquet.

However, aside from the downtime UKTV 'holding caption' and physical mailshots, it's rather difficult to maintain the idea of them being in the same network in most peoples' minds.

I accept that they do alot of cross-channel trailers, but they are also for the VM channels which have never had the UKTV branding. Furthermore, some channels take advertising slots on rival channels to promote their wares and these are indistinguishable from their own 'group' since the rebranding.

I think he was talking about the fact you can't remember which company was being advertised, even though you clearly read the leaflet Smile

Ah, I see. Well, it was a very cursory glance. Most of the junk through my door goes straight into the recycling bin; I just wish I could do that with the bills sometimes Laughing

I love the name but the channel is pointless as dave repeats everything often anyway
