Are you sure they haven't just been taking acid?

That's what always happens to me.

UKTV Documentary to become Eden in January

LONDON - UKTV Documentary will rebrand as Eden on 26 January, with the strapline: "One amazing world. One amazing TV channel."

The channel will target upmarket couples in their 30s and 40s, with children. UKTV will begin marketing Eden from 26 December.

UKTV announced the rebrand in October, as well revealing that UKTV People would become Blighty. UKTV controller Matthew Littleford, said the channels would initially rely on existing content that featured on the channels in their guises as UKTV People and UKTV Documentary.

Eden will feature a mixture of premieres such as Superstorm and Wild China, alongside series such as Planet Earth and Full Circle with Michael Palin.

UKTV also said that the rebrand of factual channel UKTV History to Yesterday scheduled for early next year, would complete the rebrand of its factual channel portfolio.

Yes I think it looks quite nice. A potentially good rebrand there.

UKTV drops relationship Dramas on Watch

I apologise for dragging up an old thread, but I found this piece of information quite interesting. With Watch barely 3 months old now they've alreay altered what they're offering, with them dropping the contemporary BBC dramas, and moving Richard & Judy to a new timeslot.

For me Watch feels a bit like BBC1 with adverts, but it's a nice additon to have, but I think for it to succeed it does need a DTT presence.

On a slightly different note, I see they've started running promos for Eden, which will launch at the end of the month.

What channels with the UKTV tag still remain then? I know UKTV History is still going but are there any others left?

The new names for UKTV Style, Food and Gardens still have yet to be announced.

No the latest to have been revealed are already known, being Eden and Blighty.

I must say I personally am liking UKTV's new approach to an overall identity, picking names which really stand out. And the new Eden promo with the You Are Here arrows is pleasing on the eye... really professional. Something I never felt the UKTV brand looked, professional. Always looked like a Challenge eske budget promotion in my eyes.

Yes, but those being rebrands of Documentary and People, leaves Style, Food and Gardens still to be announced as benjy says.

With the rebrand of UKTV Gold to G.O.L.D, the programming was changed to focus on comedy (with the dropping of dramas and soaps, for example).

With tomorrow's rebrand of UKTV Documentary to Eden, there doing a similar thing, with the new channel focusing on Earth, Wildlife & Travel.

I think that by focusing on a narrower range of programming, they're making a big mistake, as the channels will appeal to fewer viewers.

Didn't all the non-comedy stuff from UK Gold shift to the 'general entertainment' channel Watch? I imagine all the non-earth-wildlife-travel programmes from Docs will move across to either Blighty, Dave or History.
