UKTV Rebrand and new channel

Someone mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I don't think it was really picked up on: on numerous shows today on GOLD and Dave, there's been announcements to the effect of "this episode was created for the BBC and selected for Dave".

On GOLD, there was also a giant graphic - where the DOG doubled in size and a text balloon appeared next to it - with "created by the BBC" on it.

What the hell is all that about?

I've also never been part of the anti-DOG brigade to any degree, but the GOLD and Alibi DOGs are really taking the p!ss a bit. GOLD's 'next programme' promotional graphic is also really intrusive - a giant text balloon across the top 1/5th of the screen.

Eugh.

I'm sure its just for the opening week or so. I kind of like it.

Great to see them restarting some classics from the beginning. I could honestly watch As Time Goes By every day of the week - its fab.

I showed the logo to somebody and they said it was soooooo BNP!

That's hideous (I'm not talking about the Union Jack but the colours..), UKTV are definitely going over board with this random names thing.

Its such a bore that people insist on associating the BNP whenever they see a Union flag. It's not their bloody symbol - its the British flag.

Exactly the flag is for the whole country not just for a few crankpots. It's still a strange rebrand if you ask me.
