Have you been cheating and discussing those with focus groups, Charlie?
Oh.........you just made them up on the spur of the moment?
Well, have the £200,000 creative fee anyway if you can come up with some meaningless drivel to explain each one.

I don't think UKTV People is a stupid name, but the channel has been an odd one for ages. I remember watching lots of it when it first launched but now I hardly look at it. It's definately lost its way - nearly all it's programmes are also featured on othe UKTV channels, it doesn't really have a clear purpose.
I like the idea of 'Blighty' though, and focusing People and Documentary is long needed. Not sure about the name 'Eden'.... but it is better than 'Documentary', what a dull name that is!

I really am beginning to think that somebody in the UKTV Marketing Team is either taking the p*** or on a controlled substance! Are they randomly picking words out of the dictionary now and creating some unconvincing accompanying blurb, just to see what they can get away with?
It's a bit more than that though isn't it, each of the channels is being re-positioned and the name matches that.
You could hardly say that the explanation of 'Blighty' as name for a channel showing factual shows about Britain is 'unconvincing'. Sounds fairly logical to me

The problem with the channels was that they started in one direction, didn't work and so went in a different direction. I think the channels could have promoted the change in tone and programmes without having to resort to another rebrand and name change. Obviously they want to reposition themselves and start afresh, but if they put more thought into the channels in the first place they wouldn't need endless rebrands.
