Since Sept 2nd, the 'AGB Nielsen Media Research' website has stated that:

UKTV Gold +1 is not closing and is being rebranded Gold +1
Watch +1 is launching

It is my understanding too that a GOLD timeshift service will remain, it will just be located further down the EPG to make room for Watch.

I don't imagine they're going to get very high ratings stuck down on 207 and 208 on Sky. I forget about Dave+1 because I don't often get down as far as 158. That's on page 6 of the EPG and I've usually found something to watch before I get there.

What a mess. The GOLD logo shown on the previous page looks tacky and dated, really not what I would have expected.

And as for 'Watch'...
Quote:
Red Bee Media has created the idents for the channel by filming the public's reaction to the 20ft-by-20ft eye in various locations around the UK.

In the above quote, I think the term 'created' should be used loosely - Filming members of the public near some giant eye? That's hardly much of an ident creation, is it. If someone from this forum plonked a huge 'TVF' logo in a city centre, filmed the results and posted it in 'Mock Designs', I somehow doubt that would be taken seriously. Time-lapse idents might have been a bit better, but seeing as they're filming reactions from Joe Public, I guess we won't see any of that.

Well done Red Bee, you've certainly convinced me these new looks are going to be great...

Is that photo taken outside the Red Bee offices in the W12 Media Village?

Oh dear, where have I heard that before.

There can't be very many things on this planet that are less interesting than someone's reaction to a giant eyeball, apart from my reaction to the suggestion of an ident based on someone's reaction to a giant eyeball...

And yet it's STILL better than the first logo...

Which logo, recently or originally!?

I take it you are in agreement with my comment though. With reference to now , it has to be said, it's not looking good. Confused

The first "go on laugh daily | gold" logo, scrapped without ever making it to the screen, as reposted on the last page: http://www.rp-network.com/tvforum/uploads/603804_l1.gif

The originals were much better.

I guess Watch is kind of to become UKTV's flagship pay-TV channel, rather than Gold then, which seems to be refocusing on comedy.

Are the other UKTV channels to follow suit and rebrand next year then?

That's the plan.
