I don't watch EE, and I haven't for decades, but if I have access to Watch/W, then I also have access to BBC One and a Sky+/V+/TiVo box.
Why would I want to watch something with adverts, when I could have recorded it earlier in the evening, or even downloaded it from iPlayer
sans
pesky commercials?
Because you're not everyone, and a sizeable chunk of people still prefer linear TV to OD. So the late night W repeat obviously isn't aimed at your demographic. It's aimed at people who don't have a PVR or a smart TV and prefer to watch TV on a TV and not a computer screen.

Michael, I disagree. I only watch "TV on a TV".
People with ONLY linear TV watching Freeview can't watch 'W'.
If you've got Sky/Virgin/Other 'pay-tv' then you are more than likely to have a PVR, unless you've refused an upgrade.
If I was watching online, I would remember that BBC iPlayer is free from adverts, and if I didn't have a subscription to Watch/W, I wouldn't have access to their online catch-up service either.
EastEnders isn't the problem here, it's yet another rebrand for UKTV's ailing 'flagship' pay tv channel.
EE may artificially increase their share, but they need consistent programming to get viewers to tune in, something that there's a clear USP with Dave and GOLD.
The fact the only show we're talking about is the EastEnders repeats doesn't look too promising for the revamp either.
Perhaps that might have something to do with the fact TV Forum is dominated by blokes, and this is a channel aiming at females? When TLC launched, pres aside, there was little discussion. Same for Lifetime.
