I think it'd be a better idea to go the route of UKTV 1 etc. I admit Dave was a good idea but having a network named after the cast of Hi-De-Hi or something... probably won't go down well. UKTV is a famous brand and I think renaming it all is a bad idea.
I think the obvious route is to drop the UKTV from the name so you'd have Gold, Drama, Food, Gardens, People, Style... not sure what they would call UKTV History as there is already the History channel. I would change the name of UKTV Documentrary too.

I agree - the idea of a brand is that consumers can trust that the product is of similar quality to it's siblings. Ditching a well known brand like that probably isn't the wisest move that UKTV could make. I even find that the capitals UKTV stick out on the EPG - with that removed, they'd all disappear into the abyss...

With UKTV Gold airing more and more original commissions it's inevitable "Gold" will be gone soon.
It is true, though, that Gold as a name is no longer relevant for their flagship channel which has publicly announced its budget for American imports and original programming.

Thus, by that reasoning, 'UKTV' will probably go due to the decreasing number of UK shows on the channel, and 'Gold' will probably go due to the original programming.
