Sky is not the best when storms happen and programmes drop out- that would annoy me and make me constantly worry about the effect when on holiday and any recordings are missed,

I've had Sky for nearly 20 years, and I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I have lost the signal due to bad weather that I didn't resolve in 5 minutes.

I've cancelled Sky for better deals more often than I've lost their service though bad weather.

An STB would reboot itself while you were away and carry on recording, or you could get everything from Catch-Up anyway.

You still talking about paying money for new equipment to get a service I used to get before, which I really don't want to do on principle.

Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism. This is where VM customers purchased Now TV boxes, so they could watch Game of Thrones on Sky Atlantic, thanks to their exclusivity agreement with HBO.

Eventually ofcom will ban the exclusive channel deals.

Why should they? If a platform wants to offer exclusivity as an incentive for joining, so be it. It's not just the 'evil' Sky that offers it, BT does with AMC as well.

Isn't Sky Atlantic still exclusive?

More to the point aren't C4HD+1 and 4SevenHD still restricted to certain platforms, and they are state-owned channels?

Virgin are putting the notices on the channels saying what is replacing each channel. Gold with Paramount Network Hd,
Gold +1 with True Entertainment +1,
W with Lifetime,
W+1 with Sky Sports Mix,
W HD with Vice
Drama is with Your TV.
Really with 4 Music (which even Virgin know is not a good replacement as their spining by saying it keeps it real with good entertainment).
Albi with True Entertainment.
Albi + 1 with Free Sports.
Albi HD with Crime + Investigation in HD,
Dave with Premier Sport HD
Dave HD with Quest in HD
Dave Ja Vu with Discovery Turbo,
Eden with Love Nature HD
Eden+1 with ZooMoo,
Eden HD with Love Nature SD,
Good Food with Together,
Good Food + 1 with Horse & Country,
Good Food HD with nothing it seems,
Home with More 4,
Home +1 with More 4 +1.
Yesterday with History HD
Yesterday +1 with Lifetime +1
Also makes it sound as if it happening at midnight tonight rather than midnight tommrow.
I wonder how many complaints they have already received? Expect it will be a lot come Monday.

So they're in dispute with UKTV because they air too much of their subscription content free to air and then replace their channels with a line up of channels which are free elsewhere.

To be honest wondered for a whilst if UKTV wouldn't be better off going completely free and this would only encourage them to do so. Wonder to how it'll affect the bids to buy half the business. C4 probably more interested in the free to air route but if ITV got involved they may look to strengthen the pay TV elements.

This tweet suggests different channel numbers for Paramount, presumably for if the UKTV channels stay.

Because it is against competition rules. Espescally as many people cant have Sky or Virgin due to reasons beyond their control.

Catch up only lasts 28 days so you have to rush through things to make the deadline.
I have been at realtvies sevreal times when Sky has vanished for a lot longer than five mins during a thunder storm.

They don't need to have Sky or Virgin, Sky have Sky Atlantic on Now TV, a IPTV service. BT also have AMC on Sky and IPTV to ensure those who can't receive them can elsewhere.

Those who can't get the UKTV channels from Sunday on VM also have an alternative. Yes, it means investing in some new equipment or a tv aerial, but it's not entirely a thing of you have to have a Sky set-up to watch Dave or Drama and certainly not for the pay channels either.

Have you seen the cost of getting an aerial fitted? Not exactly cheap now a days. Perhaps Virgin should pay because it's them causing the problem.

Akward when Virgin are telling their customers that.
