. . . but I have no way to record off Freeview, so I'd need to buy a Freeview PVR to be able to record them, which I don't particularly want to do.

Can you not watch on your TV using UKTV Play?

No, it's not a smart TV. So again, I'd have to take out new subscriptions or buy new equipment to get the service I already have- which I shouldn't have to do.?

You don't need a a Smart TV, just a cable to connect your laptop/PC to an HDMI port on your TV. The cables are not expensive.

Or a cheap Chromecast if the UKTV apps support it?

UKTV Play doesn't support Chromecast, but they could buy a cheap subsidised Now TV Box or stick where UKTV Play is supported.

They can cast GOLD through NOW TV though.

Freesat at least provide some of the UKTV channels.

Freesat don't provide any channels do they? Channel providers make themselves available via Freesat (by paying Freesat for EPG access) - which is a very different kettle of fish to Freesat operating a TV service (They manage a delivery platform instead)

You can equally argue that Sky is also mainly just a delivery platform. Most of their channels are simply paying to be on their EPG.

You still talking about paying money for new equipment to get a service I used to get before, which I really don't want to do on principle.

Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism. This is where VM customers purchased Now TV boxes, so they could watch Game of Thrones on Sky Atlantic, thanks to their exclusivity agreement with HBO.

You've been moaning about it for 24 hours James. Shocked

Cancel VM and get the same deal I have with Sky - £16 a month (discount rate). You will get all you were missing, and more, plus better BBC iPlayer quality, and Box Sets, and oodles more. Thumbs up

Tell them you are a VM cancellation. They'll love you . . . Thumbs up

24 hours? *looks back at thread, first post I made was at 7:50*. So nothing like 24 hours.

Sky is not the best when storms happen and programmes drop out- that would annoy me and make me constantly worry about the effect when on holiday and any recordings are missed,
Plus Bt Sport and Europaort are part of the package while with sky it’s paying for them.

Is he saying he has no Freeview where he lives?

Eventually ofcom will ban the exclusive channel deals.

Not everyone has a TV aerial these days.
