To think it took over a year and a half for the basic Sky channels to come back to VM.

Virgin have been constantly phoning this weekend to try and offer new deals and offers - my parents keep telling them to write instead but they ring back again - sometimes on the home phone and sometimes on mobile.
Sounds like they came close to a deal then pulled out at the last minute... it's all immensely frustrating for us Virgin customers.

I've rung them - 45 mins on hold - and it actually works out more expensive to cancel the TV! I've got a "triple discount" which in effect means I'm getting the TV for free. Well, that's fair enough. Annoying I've no ability to record Dave etc though.
I understand that it is difficult for the two companies to reach an agreement, but to me, it appears to be a bit ridiculous that they won't reach an agreement, even on the FTA channels. Also, if it was Virgin that backed out of this latest attempt at an agreement, it is a clear sign that it will likely be a while before a new agreement is reached as subscriber numbers clearly aren't a concern at the moment (although the current mentions of new deals, offers and discounts appear to suggest otherwise).
I wonder whether BBC Studios/Discovery Inc can withstand any advertising revenue loss for UKTV longer than Liberty Global can cope with the loss of subscribers.
It may just come to 'who blinks first', but that may be quite a way down the road.
