. . . but I have no way to record off Freeview, so I'd need to buy a Freeview PVR to be able to record them, which I don't particularly want to do.

Can you not watch on your TV using UKTV Play?

No, it's not a smart TV. So again, I'd have to take out new subscriptions or buy new equipment to get the service I already have- which I shouldn't have to do.

Why don't these companies think of how they're inconveniencing the customers while they're grandstanding and willy waving?

Am very annoyed as Eastenders 1985 is due in a couple of weeks and Now I will miss it.

Well Drama is on Freeview, so you can watch it there.

But I'm wanting to watch them too, so it's annoying. I can watch it via freeview, but I'm not going to be there every day to watch them as they're being broadcast, with the channel on Virgin I can set them to record through the Tivo box, but I have no way to record off Freeview, so I'd need to buy a Freeview PVR to be able to record them, which I don't particularly want to do.

But, hey, it's alright as I get to watch ZooMoo as compensation.... right?

Dont have access to freeview as the aerial was broken years ago.

Yes, it's a load of **** isn't it? They really aren't thinking of their customers, are they?

I mean, we haven't had an aerial set plugged into the TV in our living room for nearly 20 years, so it's going to be a lot of faffing about to get Drama, and even then I'll only be able to watch it when I'm in the house, no way to record. Not like I can even hook up the old VCR because there's no set top box, just the freeview built into the TV. It's either switching to Sky, getting a smart TV so I can get UKTV Play or buying a PVR, none of which I want to do, and all of which will cost money.

Virgin's response about the "great new channels" is a load of rubbish, because they're not showing the programmes I want to watch. ZooMoo and YourTV aren't showing classic EastEnders are they (or anything that looks like it will remotely interest me), so why should I care less about them?

Suspect come Monday Virgin's call centre will suddenly have technical problems for a few days because I can't image the call operators fancy telling people the channels have gone over a dispute regarding on demand content you don't care about and there being replaced by a bunch of new unknown channels and HD versions of some other channels.

When Virgin do get back the UKTV channels they will hardly want Eden willl they as this will be competition for their newly launched Love Nature channel?

Love Nature will probably then shut because the amount of departures they get will mean they will cave - same reason they caved with Sky after a year or so.

I don't think even losing Sky One/News/Sports News was as much of a blow as losing all the UKTV channels would be.

Sky one probably was- afterall it airs plenty of new content

It didn't really anywhere near as much back in 2007 though.

Back then Virgin tried to act as if their On Demand offering was a suitable replacement (which of course it wasn't- though they did at least get the on demand rights to Lost which was probably Sky 1's biggest show at the time) in the same way they seem to think YourTV and Now 80s will make up for the loss of UKTV.

The only way of watching UKTV's channels legally on a tv through IPTV is through TV Player, which thanks to UKTV's rights restrictions means the only way of watching a sub-standard SD version of the channels is through an Android TV device.

I think the most stupid aspect is the new channels which feel like Virgin know they will suffer a lot of resignations and somehow think the new ones will help
Not sure IQTV will be that popular because I am not sure old Gameshow's are On Demand type of programmes..
