While BM11 is indeed talking a load of crap, I also don't think it's fair to be condescending about those of us on Virgin who are annoyed about losing the channels either.

Can VM punters get out their contracts due to the loss of these channels? That may be a more effective form of protest.

From what I've seen on social media, apparently not, but I suspect the retention team will be busy offering discounts for those most affected by the loss of Eden and Good Food.

However, I won't be surprised if a minority of customers buy their contract out, so they can go to Sky or another provider for those channels.

Many wont have fixed contracts as after a while you can cancel at any point.

Now and again you would get the odd little picture break up if there was a really heavy downpour, or a bird sits on the satellite .

I doubt that!

Apparently the Virgin call centre line is that there is no room for the channels what with the new ones coming.

I doubt that!

The dish is fixed underneath my bedroom window, and birds do sit on top of the dish now and again.

Sitting on the *dish* is perfectly plausible. Sitting on the *satellite*, not so much.

No room for Gold and Dave because Virgin customers have been crying out for Horse and Country and Vice TV.

Virgin's TV service was poor in terms of UI for many years but since they've gotten TiVo it's far more advanced - I use WishLists all the time and the options for series link are so customisable that I actually tailor them per show. That's why the "just use another service" argument doesn't really work for me. It's all about convenience, so I'll likely end up watching UKTV content a lot less.

Some of the replacement sound naff but nice to get more channels in HD like History. It does seem to me though that they've been indifferent about adding new channels to the service and then when something like this has come along, with the prospect of so many channels going at once, they've suddenly pulled a finger out to add new channels and HD variations.

I certainly appreciate the V6 box a lot. The old Tivo was starting to get useless because we were wanting to record so much stuff there were clashes (of course though there'll be fewer clashes with the UKTV channels gone). I might be wrong, but I think it's a small fortune to get Sky Q installed and have the box. Another reason we're reluctant to move providers.

My provider is Virgin Media, and I'm glad they're getting rid of the UKTV channels. I don't watch them, though, so it doesn't actually matter to me.
