Sounds good, talking of getting up for relaunchs, i've been there for the last two new sets of idents for the BBC, the first one was in 1991, when I was only 7 and knew that it would launch before and it launched at 6pm from what I can remember and I liked it. And secondly in 1997 when I was up early for some wierd reason and saw the launch early saturday morning, and hated it and the logo, but now I like the ident and love the logo. I thought it was so plain and boring and colourless, but looking back /B//B//C/ is so old fashioned and the ¦B¦¦B¦¦C¦ is nice and modern.

The new '1' ident WAS introduced at 9.00am on Saturday 16 February 1991 to introduce that morning's Going Live. I do remember Andi Peters telling us at 5.35pm on the Friday that it was the last day of the old globe, but it certainly continued in use for the rest of the day.
The first of the '2' idents, 'paint', was shown at 2.45pm on that Saturday.

I was pretty sure that it launched at 5:35 or possibly 6, they couldn't have left it until the next day because they would have needed to use something for the rest if that night.

Yep. The First Live and Kicking in 1993 had that computerised head of a cat floating about on the ident saying something like 'Hey Hey! It's Saturday morning and THIS is Live and Kicking!'
(Dad hah dah hah dad hah HAH! etc.)

BBC2 had been showing Open University from 6.50 that morning. The first non-OU programme was not on until 2.45.
