in Huddersfield, one village up the valley from Where the Heart is, and close to Last of the Summer Wine

I'm sure some of Emmerdale Farm used to be filmed in parts of Pudsey and Farsley, as well as in Esholt. Is that right Steve?

Farsley used to be the studio base for Emmerdale - not sure whether it was a proper galleried studio or a 4 waller though. The Esholt stuff moved to the Harewood estate in Leeds I believe.

Well it's still there but yes, all the outdoor stuff filmed at Harewood now. You can go and visit the old Esholt set now.

I think Walsall Town Hall was used for at least one 'Dalziel & Pascoe' as a courthouse, not that I watched the prog, along with other locations around the West Midlands.

(Anyone at BBC Birmingham, you know who you are, care to confirm?)

Just remembered that a one off ITV drama about a fire service was filmed at Bramley fire station (closed around three months before filming started - and just up the road from me!) where the main story line was a woman joining the team. Can't remeber what it was called - something blues.

You're thinking of Steel River Blues - it was actually a seven-part series filmed in 2004. It was supposed to be set on Teesside, but like you said much of it was filmed in Leeds.

Yeah, I meant one off drama series but forgot to type it Embarassed! Apparently it wasn't meant to be a one off but ratings weren't that good so they dropped - shame really I quite liked it (and not just looking out for local places Laughing ).

I live in the West Midlands/

A local hotel near me (the infamous Station Hotel in Dudley) has featured in a Most Haunted episode, which also featured a brief speeded-up day shot of the town centre (though since the hotel isnt actually IN the town centre its anybodys guess as why this was inserted)

Also Dudley Zoo has featured in an episode of Little Angels, and the Black Country Living Museum as its now called is often home to Adam Hart-Davis.

I keep thinking Keeping Up Apperances was filmed round this area but of course it was filmed in Coverntry.

Yeah, I enjoyed it too -shame it was cancelled. But then again, Nick said it was doomed from the start.

Yes, Weston Favell and Abington areas of Northampton always crop up in Keeping up appearances. The town centre pops up in one of them i think as well.

Abington is where my friends live, near the church hall they used, I'd show a picture if it was easy to do so, any advice appreciated.

last sunday night Northampton town hall was on tv twice, in the lunchtime episode of keeping up appearances (they go to the Mayor's ball) and in the demolition series looking at greyfriars bus station

One poster stated how in Bergerac people went miles in minutes, when I lived on the island of wight they filmed the ITV series 'reach for the moon' there in 1999 and the town location (Yarmouth) is 7 miles from the school location (Carisbrooke) yet it showed people turning a corner in the town and arriving at the school

That's the licence exercised many programme makers I suppose, and those unfamiliar with the locations would never be any the wiser. "Brookside" managed for years to get away with the fact that the two halves of their permanent set were many miles apart.......obviously the curved passageway to the parade was some sort of "transwarp conduit" or "wormhole" (Trekkies will understand that Embarassed Embarassed )

good point, I forgot about the brookside sets, the houses being in west derby and the shops in childwall, the parade part has been turned into a playground for grange hill now.

Anyway, can somebody tell me how to put up a picture as I would like to show one of the church hall used in keeping up appearances which i took in april last year

Thanks Stewart,

now it's too big for me to load (2184x1177 pixels), how do I reduce the pixels to the allowable width without me having to rescan the photo? even if i crop the photo to just show the building it's too big (1151x117 pixels)

sorry to be a pain, I'm not that computer savvy

Ps some keeping up appearance sites state that some town scenes were filmed in leamington spa, can anybody confirm this or has somebody not checked their info
