any body lived near any towns used for uk tv programmes, I used to live in northampton which was used for location filming in keeping up appearances in the early 90s, my friends live near the church hall that was used.
the character houses were in coventry but northampton was used for town scenes, probably because coventry town centre is more recognisable.
Parts of Badger, the series with Jerome Flynn, was filmed in my village (Winlaton, near Gateshead). I was also an extra in an episode of Families when it was filmed at the Didsbury campus of Manchester Metropolitan University when I was a student there.

The new Argos advert with all the people dashing around was filmed in my local town for local people. Unless you're watching it in slomo on a TiVo you'd never actually tell it was Horsham in the background. Don't think it was our store they used either: not pretty enough!

Yes, Weston Favell and Abington areas of Northampton always crop up in Keeping up apperances. The town centre pops up in one of them i think as well.
It's a little bit out of date, but I live in Jersey and watching car chases in Bergerac is always a source of amusement - they can travel 9 miles around a single corner!
Some parts of A Touch of Frost were filmed around various parts of Leeds and some parts looked like they were filmed around Cookridge and Ireland Wood which is not far from where I live
All the recent Morrisons adverts have been filmed in my local store (Barnsley). And Last of the Summer Wine have filmed in my village a number of times, with the main centre of Holmfirth only being a few miles away.
They also filmed part of the Harold Shipman drama starring James Bolam in my area (part of it at least - cue shock and horror from local rag)
in Huddersfield, one village up the valley from Where the Heart is, and close to Last of the Summer Wine
I'm sure some of Emmerdale Farm used to be filmed in parts of Pudsey and Farsley, as well as in Esholt. Is that right Steve?
Yes, you're right because I have a friend who used to live in Farsley who lived on a street where some of the cast lived when they were filming.
One night his son was in bed and some of the cast (I think mainly the Dingles) were drinking in the garden, he asked them to try to keep it down a bit and they offered him to join them!
EDIT: Just remembered that a one off ITV drama about a fire service was filmed at Bramley fire station (closed around three months before filming started - and just up the road from me!) where the main story line was a woman joining the team. Can't remeber what it was called - something blues.
EDIT 2: And Fat Friends was filmed in Leeds - the chip shop where one of them worked is called Midgeley's and it's on (or near) Butcher Hill in the West Park area of the city. And the church that the main character (can't remeber her name now) got married in is the one in Headingley along the main street.

Farsley used to be the studio base for Emmerdale - not sure whether it was a proper galleried studio or a 4 waller though. The Esholt stuff moved to the Harewood estate in Leeds I believe.
