I'm bemused.
I swear blind there WAS a railing on Saturday (13/10/01) evening's short UK Today bulletin!!!
But it hasn't been there since - it certainly wasn't yesterday (Mon 15th) when I watched. And itsrobert's piccy proves it wasn't there on Sunday 14th either.
Did I imagine it? Please tell me someone else saw it!!!
I think that (for reasons unknown) Saturday's UK Today was coming from the often-unused part of the main news desk (the bit the sports presenter uses), instead of the little desk opposite the main desk.
Between the end of the national news and the start of UK Today they changed the image in the 'window' from that of the main BBC newsroom to that looped recording of the News24 red tele-infested wall. (Which has been done before - when there was that bomb at TVC earlier this year). But still used a single locked-off camera shot for the duration of the bulletin.
This would explain why there was a railing and why the background looked like a plasma screen, not CSO. But why do it? Had the CSO machine broken down, meaning that if UK Today had come from it's usual place, the background would have been bright green?
