Yes I now get it! Thank you! One other thing, does everyone around the UK, who has Sky digital or whatever, recieve UK Today, i.e. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?

I think (but don't know ) that you do get your own regional BBC news on digital terrestrial . I have no idea what happens on either analogue or digital cable .
Yes, you certainly do get regional BBC news on digital terrestrial, which makes it the only way to see it in 16:9! (Although I don't know what happens with cable either).

I believe that in the case of all platforms on which BBC English Regions aren't available, the BBC Nations' are.

This is because the nations have there own versions of BBC One and Two all the time, so it is the seperate versions of the whole channel that are available (but only in their own area - i.e. you can only get BBC One Scotland in Scotland etc etc)

So, whereas we in England normally see [ B ][ B ][ C ]ONE at the bottom of the balloon idents, and only see something like

[ B ][ B ][ C ]ONE
Midlands

or whatever before a regional programme, viewers in the nations see something like

[ B ][ B ][ C ]ONE
Scotland

virtually all the time, even though the actual programmes scheduled are often the same across the whole UK.

The reason why it's UK Today, not England Today is because of the fact (as I mentioned before) that it is also the fall-back for temporarily-unavailable regions/nations on platforms that usually have all regions/nations - RepScot, WlsTdy and NwsLne are presumably no less prone to occasionally becoming unavailable than English Regions are.

Maybe they've opened up a partnership with a local ballet company for an eccentric twist to the show!

I have got Telewest and I can get Newsnight Scotland on BBC Two.

It might just be NTL Digital Viewers that cannot receive their local news on BBC Two.

I thought BBC Two changed to the local variations in May as BBC Choice Regional became just BBC Choice.

I think cable viewers in the nations get local BBC2 .,.. certainly in England on BBC2 you get UK Today and the London opt out programmes.
