Was watching UK Style today (Hard to believe I know as DIY is so not me) anyway, at 4:30 pm Trading up was going off, so on the credits, the sound faded and then I had a small shock from the Continuity announcer. This is what she said:
"UK Style continuity, Week 36, this is Carol...." and that’s when it was cut off, and the shows music was just left faded until the end.

Now, that’s a Cock up surely. Never heard anything like that before. Few things, why was that recorded for a start? Do all Channels record a little bit at the start introducing what’s going to happen? What was likely to be said after her name? "I'm Carol whatever and I much prefer UK FOOD"?
Another thing, I thought this week was week 37 or maybe week 38. So is this Style recycling the continuity recorded weeks ago?

Now this has got to be 1 of my fave continuity cock up of the year, with my second favourite being from BBC One Northern Ireland a few Mondays ago:
"Bla bla bla bla....Right Now its BBC One (Small pause cos she knows she's mucked up) on BBC Three". LOL, very good love. I wonder if she’s still in a Job?

Good time to see a cock up is at the end of the day on UK Freeview ideas. A lot of the time its the UK GOLD 2 woman going on about The Bill. Those people at UKTV really need to check on what buttons they are pressing.

Yes, it's common to make track 1 on the minidisc an ident along the lines of "UK GOLD announcements for week 7, recorded by Ann Ouncer" in case the label falls off. This week is BBC week 36, until the end of tomorrow.

I suspect the minidisc machine didn't cue to the right track and defaulted to track 1. It sometimes happens, especially if its a knackered disc or recoreded in a suspect machine. There probably wasn't anymore recorded on that track, and the reason why the audio stayed dipped is that the dip is pre-programmed in length.
