Otherwise it's hard to find British content on Turkish TV channels. I guess BBC Prime fills the void, but that's useless if you don't speak English.

BBC Prime have subtitles in other languages, check through their schedules on their text service.

Night & Day is still being shown out there, incidentally, which also is doing very well. Still, it didn't get a reamp from someone who was high on something halfway through... :S

I see Eastenders has been axed from BBC America due to poor ratings.

Heh heh! What'd happen if that happened here? Oh yeah, it has! (Brookside and Crossroads anyone?)

That is going to annoy a lot of ex-Pats...

Just as the axings of Crossroads and Night and Day will have, and the axing of Brookside will - assuming those are all shown abroad. I hope another channel buys Eastenders' rights from BBC Worldwide, so that ex-pats don't lose out. If the show hasn't been axed in it's native country, why should it be axed anywhere else?

TV companies take note: show it all, or don't bother starting. I can think of a few situations where the roles are reversed, and US programmes haven't been finished here...

Another stupid argument.

BBC America as a whole probably doesn't have good ratings! It's a cable channel! Therefore low ratings is no excuse. I bet the ratings would be average here!

I'd imagine EastEnders cost a lot of money for BBC America to broadcast. There's obviously not enough people watching to warrant the cost.

Most people know that the phrase "Network Television" refers to the Big Four, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and to some extent WB, and UPN.

was not Monty Python shown on NBC during primetime, or am I just having a memory general protection error?

Python never aired on NBC. It was screened on many PBS station across the country.

It was also shown on MTV, which is when it really began to get "mainstream awareness" in the states.

Mr Bean the animated series is very popular internationally. I have seen it on the Disney Channel Asia, local Indonesian TV and on airlines.

It's also on CBC Television on Friday nights.

Is it a British production though? There are a lot of foriegn-sounding names on the credits.
