UKTV is totally daft. UK Gold is ok, even UK Trouble would be ok... but UKTV Gold and UKTV Trouble is just stupid.

Now I'm one person who said renaming the ITV regions wasn't a problem. I stand by that, because all of the regions were, more or less, the same.

But changing channels names from things like "Living!" to "UKTV Lifestyle" is just silly and takes away the personality of the channel. They may as well call it "UKTV Chat Shows, Mediorce Comedy, A Little Bit Of Cooking And Sometimes The Odd Game Show".

Personally, I see nothing wrong with calling all their channels "UK...." but not "UKTV...." - it just sounds wrong.

Mind you, their branding people have gone mad anyway! UKG2... no no no. Awful idea IMO.

Living, trouble, bravo etc is not getting the UKTV treatment as it stands so far.

And by simpler look, the logos will all use a template style I rekon, with a singular ident style, and a colour of its own. Imagine the UKTV Mums logo but with Gold in the MUM's font, and a golden orange colour.

UKTVFTN not only sounds like some kind of bizarre acronym, but doesn't make sense when you 'unravel' it.

UK Television Flextech Television Network.

Branding gone mad. I think so! Rolling Eyes http://tvforum.ath.cx:8080/tvftemp/pix.gif

I was only using that as an example to point out how stupid this new branding is!

UKTV Food isnt as bad as that, and the visuality of the logo isnt as bad as the spoken version, but I'm sure, mouthful names will drop the UKTV when spoken, "over on G2" or "meanwhile on Style"

In my opinion. Didn't there used to be a 'jargon buster for kiddies' on the site somewhere?

I'm still not keen on "UKTV Food" and "UKTV Mums" and so on... what will adding the word "TV" to the titles actually achieve? Apart from letting their viewers know that they live in the UK and are, astonishingly, watching television...

I do believe the design is whats driving this. Unless they have a solution to the mouthfuls in saying the channel names.

As designs go, the new uktv logo is a much nicer, simpler, friendly design...

And the new channel logos seem much simpler and cleaner, then the present ones. With the fonts all the same unlike before.
